* West Florida is participating in the program's fifth NCAA South Regional Tournament and third in the last four years ... Monday's title game is the first for the Argonauts in program history.
* 17th-ranked and second seeded West Florida enters the NCAA South Regional Championship Game with a 27-6 record and as the Gulf South Conference regular-season champions with an 18-4 record.

YELTON IN FIFTH YEAR AT UWF
* Stephanie Lawrence Yelton is in her fifth season at UWF, bringing an 89-57 record into the NCAA South Regional Championship Game ... She is 146-141 in 9-plus years as a college head coach, which includes a 57-84 mark in at Charleston Southern from 2001-06 ... She is a 1996 North Carolina graduate who was the school's all-time leader in every 3-point category at the end of her career.

27 WINS FOR UWF
* UWF surpassed the 20-win plateau three weeks ago with a win at North Alabama ... That marked the second time in the last three years to reach that mark and just the sixth time in program history.
* UWF entered the NCAA South Regional with 25 victories, tying the school record previously set in 1997-98. They have since surpassed that mark with two wins this week.

UWF CLAIMS FIRST-EVER GSC REGULAR-SEASON TITLE
* Without question, the 2016-17 conference season has been one of the most memorable for the UWF women's basketball program ... The team went 18-4 and won its first-ever GSC regular-season championship, leading the league for the final eight weeks of the season ... The Argos has previously won the GSC East Division crown in 1998, 1999 and 2006.
* The Argonauts' 18 GSC wins are a new record, topping the 16 set two years ago when UWF finished second.

UWF'S NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
* UWF is making its fifth NCAA Championship appearance this week and with two wins has a 5-4 all-time record ... The Argos are now 4-1 in first round games and 1-3 in regional semifinal contests ... Monday's game is the first regional title game appearance for the Argos.
* The No. 2 seed is the highest in program history.
* Senior Katie Bobos is the first player in school history to appear in three NCAA Tournaments.

UWF AGAINST ROLLINS
* UWF and Rollins are meeting for the seventh time in women's basketball on Monday, with the series knotted at 3-3 ... The Tars won the most reent game, 72-65, in last year's opening weekend at the University of Tampa.

NCAA SOUTH REGIONAL RECAP
* UWF advanced to the regional championship game with wins over seventh seed Nova Southeastern (66-57) and third seed Benedict (74-51).
* The Argonauts are shooting 42 percent overall and 40 percent from outside in their two wins.
* Senior F Katie Bobos has averaged 18.5 points in the NCAA Tournament, with 13-of-16 at the FT line and 8.0 rebounds per game ... Junior Toni Brewer has averaged a double-double with 13.5 points and 12.0 boards per contest ... Sophomore G Katie O'Neal has been deadly from behind the arc, making 6-of-10 while averaging 11.0 ppg - the Argos are 8-1 this season when she makes at least three 3-pointers.

DEFENSE KEY TO NCAA REGIONAL WINS
* The UWF defense has been strong all season but has gone up a notch in the postseason ... the Argonauts have held Nova and Benedict to 29 percent shooting overall and 26 percent from outside ... Additionally, UWF has played strong 'D' without fouling, committing just 28 violations that have led to just nine free throw attempts for its opponents ... Conversely, UWF has gone 36-for-50 in two games.

FAST STARTS HAVE BEEN NICE TOO
* Part of the reason the defense has been able to lock down and play well has been that the Argonauts have only trailed for 59 seconds of the tournament ... UWF led 22-9 one minute into the game against Nova Southeastern and scored the first 12 points against Benedict en route to a 19-3 lead ... Sophomore G Katie O'Neal has been the biggest contributor early, making her first 3 field goals in each game.

GSC IN THE NCAA
* If UWF advances to the NCAA Elite Eight, it would mark the first time in program history and the 23rd time a GSC school has accomplished the feat ... The last GSC member to advance as far was Arkansas Tech in 2011 ... Two years ago, Union fell to Nova Southeastern in the regional final.

BISTROW BATTLE PART 3
* Monday's game will put some added pressure on one family in the stands - the Bistrow's ... The family from Jacksonville has two of their four children participating with UWF sophomore G Belle and Rollins junior G Jo ... They sisters played against one another twice last season when Jo was at Valdosta State ... The scoreboard is 1-1 with each sister's team winning at home/

COYNE NAMED GSC POY BOBOS & BREWER ALSO ALL-CONFERENCE
* UWF senior Alex Coyne was named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Year, while teammates Katie Bobos and Toni Brewer were also all-conference selections as announced by the league office last Monday ... Coyne and Brewer were named to the first team with Bobos earning second team honors.
* This marks the sixth time an Argonaut has won the top honor from the league and first since 2005. Coyne joins former greats Tanisha Ruckman – twice, LaKeisha Little, Erin Vierling and Michelle Gibson as POY recipients.
* Coyne has averaged 10.0 points, 6.5 assists and 2.8 rebounds while leading UWF to its first GSC regular-season championship in school history. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native whose family now lives in Navarre, Fla. ranks third in the NCAA in assists and 31st in assist-to-turnover ratio. Her 367 assists in two years at UWF ranks second in school history, while her 6.74 assists per game in that time span ranks third all-time in GSC history. She was also an Academic All-District selection last month ... This is her second all-conference nod after second-team accolades a year ago following her transfer from Southern Miss.
* Brewer has been the most dominant forward in the GSC this season, posting 13.9 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. The junior from Huntsville, Ala. ranks eighth in NCAA with 15 double-doubles & fourth in both rebounds and defensive rebounds. She has put up 22 double-figure scoring games and 18 double-figure rebound, including three games with at least 20 boards. Earlier this season she surpassed 1,000 career points and currently has 1,057 ... Brewer was a second-team all-conference winner two years ago when she was also named the GSC Freshman of the Year.
* Bobos earns her second all-GSC award after collecting 12.0 points and 10.7 rebounds per game, joining Brewer as the only players in the league to average a double-double. A four-year starter from Lowell, Ind., she ranks 12th in NCAA with 14 double-doubles and 16th in rebounds. This season she became UWF's career leader in rebounds and went over 1,000 points. She is also a 2-time Academic All-District honoree.

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS
* One of the keys to UWF's season has been its defensive approach thanks in large part to first-year assistant coach LaQuanda Quick ... UWF leads the GSC in FG pct. defense (35.3%), 3-point FG defense (24.5%), defensive rebounds (32.6 rpg) and rebound margin (plus-8.7) ... They are also second in scoring defense (61.3 ppg).
* UWF went 24-1 this season when holding opponents to 70 points or less.
