PENSACOLA, Fla. – The nationally-ranked UWF men's and women's tennis teams completed a sweep of Austin Peay at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

The seventh-ranked UWF women improved to 8-1 on the season with a 6-3 win over the Governors, who fell to 2-5. The ninth-ranked Argonaut men claimed their fifth shutout of the year to raise their record to 7-1 with a 9-0 victory, dropping the Division I guests to 3-7.

In the women's match, the Argos went ahead 2-1 after splitting the top two matches and winning the third by default. The No. 1 duo of
Paula Lopez and
Paula Coyos secured an 8-5 win with
Heather Mixon and
Valeria Mantilla earning the point at No. 3.

In singles play, UWF scored points at the Nos. 3-6 spots, with Mixon, Mantilla and
Samantha Echevarria winning their matches in straight sets. Mixon's match clinched the team win as she improved to 8-1 on the season, while raising her career record to 4-0 all-time at the No. 3 position.

The UWF men bounced back form a 5-4 setback on Sunday to Georgia Gwinnett – the top-ranked NAIA team – by winning all three doubles matches before adding all six singles contests in straight sets.

Serdar Bojadjiveja, Alfonso Castellano, Gabriel Dias, Pedro Dumont and Alex Peyrot all claimed singles and doubles wins for the Argos.

The UWF women will return to action on Thursday when they face UT Martin on campus at Noon. Both squads will travel to Savannah, Ga. for a trio of matches against top-10 opponents. The Spring Break weekend will begin on Saturday morning against Hawaii Pacific.
