PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF tennis teams had a Senior Day celebration on Saturday, with both teams cruising to wins over Xavier of Louisiana.

The men's team played an all seniors lineup for a 7-2 win to improve to 23-1 on the year. The Argonauts have now won 17-consecutive matches and are 15-0 at home.

In men's doubles, Warren Kuhn and Douglas Boe breezed to an 8-2 win at the third spot. Alex Peyrot and Pedro Dumont – the top-ranked doubles team in the country – collected their 11th-consecutive triumph with an 8-5 decision. Gabriel Dias and Pedro Roese helped UWF remained perfect at the middle doubles sport this season – 24-0 – with an 8-4 decision. Individually, Kuhn saw his doubles record rise to 17-0 and Dias is 22-0 this year.

In singles action, Dias won his match at No. 2, while Dumont, Sebastian Sanchez and Boe earned team points at Nos. 4-6. Sanchez remained perfect at 15-0, including 10-0 while playing at the five or six spot.

The UWF women only had one senior –
Paula Lopez – but she was victorious in both her doubles and singles matches to help the sixth-ranked Argos tally a 9-0 win and move to 20-6 overall and 15-2 at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.

UWF jumped out to a 3-0 lead with dominating wins in doubles play. At No. 1, Lopez and
Paula Coyos, along with No. 3 duo of
Heather Mixon and
Samantha Echevarria won their matches 8-3, while
Diana Vlad and
Valeria Mantilla registered an 8-4 win at No. 2.

The Argos won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Coyos needed three sets to win 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 after dropping the first set.

The UWF women are the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Gulf South Conference Tournament and will face Delta State on Thursday, April 20 at 9:00 a.m. The top-seeded Argo men will open GSC tourney play the same day against Alabama-Huntsville at 1:30 p.m. Both matches will be played at Lagoon Park Tennis Center, 2855 Lagoon Park Drive in Montgomery, Ala.
