BOCA RATON, Fla. – The seventh-ranked UWF women's tennis team suffered a 5-0 loss to third-ranked Lynn in the NCAA South II Regional Final at the Perper Tennis Complex Tuesday.
UWF finished its season at 24-7 overall after winning the Gulf South Conference regular-season and tournament championships.
Lynn (21-2) got out to an early lead with three doubles victories. The Fighting Knights claimed an 8-0 win at No. 2 to get the match started before secure two more points with an 8-3 win at No. 3 and an 8-4 win at No. 1.
In singles play, Lynn scored with wins at Nos. 2 and 5. At No. 2, 17th-ranked Rosalie Willig defeated
Paula Coyos, 6-2, 6-0 and at No. 5, Martina Gledacheva defeated
Diana Vlad, 6-1, 6-2.
UWF senior and 28th-ranked
Paula Lopez was up a set in her match to seventh-ranked Grace Mpassy at No. 1 after using a 7-3 tiebreak for a 7-6 first set outcome.
The Argonauts advanced to the regional final for the ninth-consecutive season.
