PENSACOLA, Fla. - The University of West Florida men's soccer will take on two GSC opponents over the weekend. UWF will host No. 25 Mississippi College (5-0-1) on Friday at 5:00pm. On Sunday UWF will then face Delta State (2-3-1).
Mississippi College is currently 2-0 in GSC play with a sound 4-0 win against Shorter University and 2-1 win against a strong Lee University. Mississippi College, who are unbeaten, are ranked 25th nationally in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Poll.
Horacio Gutierrez Jr. has five goals for the Choctaws and leads the GSC in goals.
Delta State is 0-2 in the GSC with losses to Shorter University and Lee University.
After two close games on the road over the weekend against West Alabama and Alabama Huntsville, the Argonauts will be hungry to come out strong this weekend with a chance to improve their GSC record of 0-2.
Sean Hoffstatter put away a volley for the Argos off of a long ball from goalkeeper Jacob Murray against UWA. UWA would finish an overtime goal to beat the Argonauts. Alabama Huntsville edged UWF 1-0 on Sunday.
UWF has gone 1-2 against Mississippi College since its initiation into Division II soccer and the GSC in 2014.
