PENSACOLA, Fla. - The University of West Florida men's soccer took on an unbeaten Mississippi College program ranked No. 25 falling 2-0. Two second half goals from Choctaws' Marco Parfumo was enough to control the outcome of the game.
Argos had perhaps their best chance of the match in the 36th minute when Isaiah Lopez was able to beat the Choctaws' offsides trap and square a ball across the face of goal to Sergio Olatera, whose shot was tipped away by goalkeeper Humberto Pelaez. UWF had five shots with three testing Mississippi College goalkeeper, Humberto Pelaez.
Jacob Murray had a strong performance for UWF in goal with seven saves, holding the Choctaws to a 0-0 game until the 55th minute when Marco Parfumo was able to find the ball at his feet to place a shot into the lower left hand corner. Parfumo would add a second past Murray's outstretched foot in the 62nd minute.
Mississippi College had sixteen shots and nine on goal. The only yellow card of the game was issued to Dinho Zwane of Mississippi College in 49th minute of play.
Mississippi College remains unbeaten with a 3-0 record in GSC play with UWF moving to 0-3 in the conference.
UWF will continue GSC play against Delta State on Sunday at home at 12:30pm.
