ABOUT UWF
* UWF is 12-6 on the year following a pair of home wins last week over West Georgia and Auburn-Montgomery. The Argonauts are tied for fourth in the GSC at 7-4 with nine games remaining in the regular season.
* UWF is fourth in the GSC in scoring offense at 70.2 ppg and seventh in scoring defense at 62.5 ppg. They have yielded just 59.3 ppg in the last three contests. The Argonauts are shooting 39.5 percent from the floor.
* They rank fifth in the league in 3-point FG pct., making 33.0 pct and are averaging 5.1 3-pointers per game. The Argos tied their season high with 9 triples against UWG last Friday before make eight two days later vs. AUM. UWF was 17-for-39 last week for 43.6 pct.
* As has been the case in the last two seasons, the UWF defense has served the squad well, ranking third in the GSC in field goal percentage defense (.361) and ranking third in 3-point field goal pct. defense (.257). Those number are 38th and 11th, respectively in the NCAA.
* The Argos lead the league in total rebounds at 45.0 per game and defensive rebounding at 32.0 per game (t-4th in the NCAA). Opponents have averaged just 10.2 offensive rpg.
PROJECTED STARTERS NOTES
* Junior transfer Halee Nieman leads a pair of players who average in double figures. Nieman has posted 14.9 points to rank sixth in the GSC. She leads all players in the GSC in FT made (96 - also #16 in NCAA) and FT attempts (152 - #2 in NCAA), while she is 16th with her 63 pct. conversion rate. Nieman, who played her first two years at Saginaw Valley State, enters the weekend with 834 career points and 435 rebounds. She scored a career-high and school-record 42 points in the win over Montevallo on Dec. 18, which included 30 points on 10-of-13 shooting after halftime. That scoring total was tied for the most in Division II at the time (now tied for 3rd) and tied for the 13th highest in GSC history. She also had a career-high 20 rebounds against the Falcons, which are the most in the league this year.
* Senior Shami Goodman has posted 12.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest. She has nine games in double figures with three of at least 22 and back-to-back 18-point efforts last week vs. UWG and AUM.
* Junior Belle Bistrow is scoring 8.8 points per contest and is second on the team with 29 3-pointers. Her 1.6 3FG per game are 11th in the league.
* Senior Jade Davis averages 2.9 assists per game and is 15th in the GSC with 1.5 steals per contest.
* Senior Courtney Meyer has also been solid and is averaging 8.1 points and 11.0 rebounds to go along with 46 blocked shots for 2.6 blocks per game. She has seven double-doubles to lead the team, which also is 2nd in the GSC and 44th in the NCAA. She leads the GSC in both rebounds and blocked shots, while ranking 9th in the NCAA in rebs and 21st in blocks. She has 766 points, 832 rebounds and a UWF record 228 blocks in 109 career games.

* Senior Chloe Branch is averaging 6.0 points and 4.8 rebounds over 18.2 minutes per game. The transfer from Kennesaw State has done well recently, posting 8.3 ppg and 4.9 rpg in the last six games, while averaging 22 minutes per outing.
* Last week she averaged 19.7 points and 11.0 rebounds in three games. She had back-to-back double-doubles in the home sweep of West Georgia and AUM, establishing career-highs in scoring both games. Opened the week with 11 points and seven boards at CBU, which included 7 and 7 in the second half. Posted 20 points and 10 rebounds in the overtime win against the Wolves for her second career double-double before dominating the Warhawks with 28 points and 16 boards in a 72-51 win. She had 14 points and 10 boards in 16 second-half minutes. She shot 53 percent in the three games. She also had 11 offensive rebounds that led to seven second-chance points in the three games.
YELTON REACHES 100 WINS AT UWF
* UWF head coach Stephanie Lawrence Yelton reached a milestone in her UWF coaching career against Delta State earlier this month. The sixth-year coach became the third coach in program history to reach the 100-victory mark, joining Shannan Bergen (183 victories) and Kathy Davis (175).
* She is now 102-62 at UWF and currently has a 159-146 head coaching record.
SCOUTING NORTH ALABAMA
* UNA is having its best season in the 5-year Missy Tiber era (2013-14 season to present) thanks to an 11-0 start. The Lions are currently ranked 12th in the D2SIDA poll and 22nd in the WBCA Rankings.
* Sophomores Emma Wallen and Ivy Wallen have paced the UNA attack, each avergaging at least 19 points per game. Emma has three games with 30 points or more this year with 18.6 ppg. She is second in the GSC with 58 3-pointers made and a 3.2 per game avg. Ivy leads the country with 9.6 assists per contest to go along with 18.1 ppg.
* UNA leads the Gulf South Conference in scoring average with 84.2 points per game, 18.6 assists per game and scoring margin (24.8 points). The Lions are also second in the league in shooting percentage, shooting defense, rebounding, turnover margin and assist/turnover ratio.
