No. 2 UWF Set to Take on UWA & UAH at Home this Weekend

Argonauts Host West Alabama on Friday & Alabama Huntsville Sunday

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The (12-0) Argos are seeking to extend their consecutive regular season winning streak to twenty games. The team standing in the way of this impressive accomplishment is third place GSC opponent, West Alabama. These teams will face off on Friday night at 5pm CT. West Alabama has a four game win streak going into this match. Then on Sunday UWF will host Alabama Huntsville at 12:30pm CT, who the Argos are 20-0 against.

National Statistic Rankings
* The Argonauts continue their dominance in the National Division II statistical rankings, as they are now ranked in the top fifteen in eight different team categories. They rank 3rd in Total Assists (34), 3rd in Total Goals Scored (40), 3rd in Total Points (114), 5th in Assists Per Game (2.83), 7th in Points Per Game (9.50), 8th in Scoring Offense (3.33), 13th in Goals-Against Average (0.414), and 14th in Shutout Percentage (0.667).

Updated Rankings
* West Florida jumped up to #2 in the United Soccer Coaches poll this week. The only team in front of UWF in the national rankings is Grand Valley State. Columbus State University, Colorado School of Mines, and Bemidji State round out the top five. The Argos are also still the leader in the South Region polls. Barry University, Mississippi College, Rollins College, and the University of Tampa round out the top five.
* UWF and Mississippi College remain the only two teams from the Gulf South Conference ranked in the top 25 United Soccer Coaches poll for a third consecutive week. Mississippi College is ranked #20 again, with a record of (9-1). The Argonauts will visit Mississippi College at the Robert P. Longabaugh Field on October 25th.
 
GSC Award Winner
*Goalkeeper Esthefanny Barreras was named the GSC Defender of the Week for a third consecutive week. Barreras played all 90 minutes in both games this past weekend, and didn't allow a goal in either game. She leads the conference in Goals Against Average (.184), Save Percentage (.929), and Total Shutouts (6). This is Barreras' fourth Defender of the Week Award this season.

Upcoming Weekend Matchups
*West Alabama has won four straight games and are coming off of an impressive 4-1 victory at Montevallo last Sunday. The Tigers are (6-2) in conference play and (8-3-1) overall this season. West Florida has played against West Alabama ten times, and the Argos are (8-2) against the Tigers overall. At the UWF Soccer Complex the Argonauts are (4-1) against the Tigers. The Tigers have two players leading the conference in statistical categories. Junior Forward Temia Pride is the Gulf South Conference leader in Total Points (29), Total Shots (53), and Total Goals (13). Senior Forward Ellie McKenzie is the conference leader in Total Assists with eight.
* Alabama Huntsville is (2-6) in conference play this season and has a (3-9-1) overall record. The Chargers will be visiting Spring Hill College on Friday afternoon before they face off against the Argos on Sunday. Alabama Huntsville is coming off their second Gulf South Conference victory against Auburn-Montgomery last Sunday, winning 4-2. Chargers' Goalkeeper Megan Buford is ranked third in the conference in Saves Per Game with (6.82). UWF is (20-0) overall against Alabama Huntsville and has a (10-0) home record at the UWF Soccer Complex versus the Chargers.
