No.13 West Florida Earns Eight In A Row

UWF Takes Down Union

JACKSON, Tenn. – No.13 UWF Volleyball (17-4, 9-1) won 3-0 against Union (4-19, 1-9). The Argos are now on a nine game winning streak as they head into tomorrow's match still in Tennessee. Tonight, UWF hit .141 for the day, while holding UU to .060 attack percentage.

UWF dominated the first set early on leading 15-6 quickly. The Argos really pulled away  at the end when Nadine Williams went back to serve out the last five points of the set. UWF finished the set with an error on Union making the set 25-11.

The second set was a close match where the long rallies were falling on the Argos side. The set was kept tied up until 8-8 where the Argos went on a five point run with Mackenzie Chrisman serving. Union then went on a run of their own to tie up the match again at 19-19. UWF struck back with four points n a row followed by a three point run by UU. West Florida put away the set with a kill by Jordyn Poppen from Logan Kael to end the set 25-23.

In set three it was another close set up until the Argos when on another one of their well earned runs. Starting at 8-8 UWF went on a five point run making it 13-8 with Ashlan Riley serving for the Argos. UWF and UU played back-and-forth from then on with the final score being 25-22.

Makila York led the team with nine kills followed by JoDee Kovanda with seven kills. Behind them was Poppen, Chrisman and Caleigh Morrison all with five kills. Kael and Nadine Williams both had 12 digs on the night with Taylor Vaneekeren behind them with eight. Vaneekeren led with 14 assists with Wallin with 12.

West Florida will play tomorrow at 1:00 pm in Memphis, Tennessee against Christian Brothers. This will be the Argos last conference match before the Crossover Tournament next weekend.
