No. 4 UWF Returns Home to Host Lee & Shorter at the Complex

Argonauts Play Lee on Friday at 7:30pm & Shorter Sunday at 3pm

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The (10-0) Argos have had an impressive start to the season, especially when you factor in that eight of their ten games have been on the road. They will look to remain undefeated as they host the Lee Flames and the Shorter Hawks this weekend at the UWF Soccer Complex. The Argonauts will play Lee on Friday night at 7:30pm CT, and then face-off against Shorter on Sunday after | noon at 3pm CT.

National Stat Rankings
* The Argos are all over the top ten in the National Division II statistical rankings this week, as they are now ranked in the top ten in seven different team categories. They rank in the top ten in: Scoring Offense (3.50), Assists Per Game (2.70), Points Per Game (9.70), Total Goals (35), Total Assists (27), Total Points (97), and Winning Percentage (1.000).

Updated Rankings
* West Florida remained at #4 in the United Soccer Coaches poll this week. The teams in front of UWF in the national rankings are the University of California-San Diego, Grand Valley State University, and Columbus State University in that order. The Argos are also still the leader in the South Region polls. Barry University, Mississippi College, Rollins College, and the University of Tampa round out the top five.
* UWF and Mississippi College remain the only two teams from the Gulf South Conference ranked in the top 25 United Soccer Coaches poll for a second consecutive week. Mississippi College is ranked #20, with a record of (7-1). The Argonauts will visit Mississippi College at the Robert P. Longabaugh Field on October 25th.
 
GSC Award Winners
* Midfielder Peyton Peffers received two awards this week from the conference, as she was named the GSC Player and Freshman of the Week. Her awards didn't stop there, she was recognized nationally as the NCAA Division Two Women's Soccer Player of the Week from the United Soccer Coaches Organization. Peffers scored four goals and had an assist last week in West Florida's victories over Auburn-Montgomery and Montevallo.
* Goalkeeper Esthefanny Barreras earned GSC Defender of the Week Honors this week. Barreras didn't allow a goal in either game this past weekend, and she now has four shutouts this year. This is Barreras' third Defender of the Week Award and second consecutive.

Upcoming Weekend Matchups
* Lee University is coming off of a tough 3-1 loss at #20 ranked Mississippi College last Sunday. The Flames are (3-2) in conference play and (6-3-1) overall this season. West Florida has faced off against Lee seven times and are (3-2-2) against the Flames overall. At the UWF Soccer Complex the Argos are (1-1-1) against the Flames.
* Shorter is (1-4) in conference play this season and has a (2-8) overall record. The Hawks will be visiting Spring Hill College on Friday night before they face off against the Argos on Sunday. Shorter is coming off their first Gulf South Conference victory against Delta State last Sunday, winning 3-2. UWF is (8-0) overall against Shorter and has a (4-0) home record at the UWF Soccer Complex versus the Hawks.
