UWF Men's Soccer Draws With Lee In Battle of GSC's Best

Argos prep for Shorter after 0-0 draw to open homestand

PENSACOLA, Fla. – UWF men's soccer posted a 0-0 double-overtime draw vs. Lee University Friday night at the UWF Soccer Complex. The scoreless draw was the second of the season for UWF and the first since the team tied then-No. 23 Tampa to start the season.

The Argos had plenty more chances than the Flames, outshooting the visitors 21-10 and racking up a 16-3 margin in shots on goal. Daniel Hrenko proved key in net for Lee. The GSC's top-rated goalie made 16 saves in 110 minutes of action to hold Lee level. Argo goalkeeper Jacob Murray recorded three saves in his second wire-to-wire shutout of the season.

Tied 0-0 in the first overtime period, the Argos and Flames got into a brief altercation following a takedown of Samir Williams by Rafael Godoi. Both Williams and Godoi were shown red cards, and each side played the final 3:33 of the first overtime and the entire second overtime a man down.

Godoi and Sean Hoffstatter each finished with four shots on goal. Craig Quinn and Palle Jespersen each managed three shots (one on goal) for the Flames.

The Argos outshot the Flames 4-3 in the 20 extra minutes but were unable to break through. Hrenko came up with three post-regulation saves.

UWF (6-2-2, 4-0-1 GSC) remains in second place in the conference following the draw, trailing the top-seeded Flames (7-2-2, 5-0-1 GSC) 16-13 in the points column.

The Argos now turn their attention to Shorter (0-6, 0-11 GSC). The Hawks come to Pensacola on Sunday for a 12:30 p.m. matchup. A live stream will be available at goargos.com/live.
