A week after defeating Tuskegee and Columbus State at home, the UWF women's basketball program heads north to Alabama Huntsville and Lee for the only meeting of the year as Gulf South Conference play will take center stage for the remainder of the 2018-19 season.

ABOUT UWF
* UWF resumes GSC play with a 7-2 overall record and 1-1 against conference competition. The Argos are 0-1 in true road games, falling to No. 14 North Georgia 77-71, and 3-1 in games away from Pensacola, picking up neutral-site wins over Fort Valley State, Albany State and Georgia College.
* UWF has out-rebounded its opponents by an average of 47-32.7 this season & ranks third nationally in rebound margin (14.2) and second in defensive boards (35.0).
* UWF's 3-point defense ranks fourth in the NCAA, allowing opponents to make just 22.3 percent of their shots for 4.9 per game.
* The Argonauts' four seniors - Belle BistrowToni BrewerAnna Hall & Halee Nieman - continue to lead the offense with each scoring between 9.6-20 points per game. Brewer has seven double-doubles in nine games, while Hall has two double-doubles and is tied for the lead among all NCAA Divisions with two triple-doubles - with her most recent one coming against Tuskegee last Wednesday.
* Bistrow, Hall, Nieman and sophomore Danielle Norquest have all made at least 45 percent of their 3-point shots & help UWF rank 13th nationally and first in the GSC with a 40 percent 3-point field goal percentage and 7.6 makes per game.

ABOUT ALABAMA HUNTSVILLE
* Alabama Huntsville is 4-4 on the season and 2-0 in GSC play. They split a pair of games earlier this week, defeating Spring Hill 75-53 in Mobile on Monday before dropping a 69-65 decision at home to Anderson.
* UAH shoot 42 percent from the floor to rank fourth in the league. The Chargers are second in the GSC with 30 defensive rebounds per game.
* Aryn Sanders leads the team in scoring with 16.2 points per contest and is second with 7.8 rebounds per game. Baylee Johnson is second in scoring at 12.0 ppg.
* Katie Speegle leads the GSC with 1.3 blocks per game and leads the team with 7,9 rpg and is third in scoring at 11.1 ppg.
* UWF has won the last three meetings, including a pair at The Stable in Huntsville. UAH had won 13 of the previous 18 dating back to the 2007-08 season.

ABOUT LEE
* Lee enters the weekend with a 7-2 record following a 84-37 win over Shorter. The Lady Flames will host Valdosta State on Saturday before hosting the Argos on Monday at 5 p.m. ET.
* The Lady Flames have one of the best defensive units in the country, ranking in the top 15 nationally in scoring defense (2nd, 46.4 ppg), field goal defense (3rd, 31.3 pct.) and turnovers forced (11th, 23.8).
* Lee ranks second in the GSC in blocked shots per game at 3.0
* Freshman Haley Schubert and junior Abby Bertram lead the offense with 11 points per game. Bertram and junior Taylor Boggess lead the team in outside shooting, with each player making 15 on the season.
* UWF is 3-8 all-time against Lee. The Argos are 0-5 at Lee.

UWF USES BIG COMEBACK TO DEFEAT COLUMBUS STATE
*  Halee Nieman scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to help UWF erase an 11-point deficit and power the Argonauts to a 79-73 win over Columbus State.
* Nieman finished with 25 points and nine rebounds while UWF shot 54 percent in the final period and held CSU to 20 percent. The Argos outscored the Cougars 29-12 in the last 7:49 of the game.
Toni Brewer went for 17 points and a game-high 18 rebounds to collect her seventh double-double of the year. Belle Bistrow was the third Argonaut player in double figures, finishing with 18 points and four 3-pointers, including a crucial one with 2:19 left that gave UWF a lead they never lost.
* UWF outrebounded CSU 55-37 overall and 14-6 in the final period. The 55 boards tied a season high.

HALL WITH TWO DOUBLE-DOUBLES AND A TWO TRIPLE-DOUBLES
Anna Hall transferred to UWF in the offseason from Saginaw Valley State following a strong career in three seasons for the Cardinals, finishing with 658 points, 405 rebounds, 265 assists and 143 steals in 82 games. But in just eight games with the Argonauts, she has improved up those numbers.
* Last Wednesday against Tuskegee, she totaled 10 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists to record her second triple-double of the year and tie for the national lead among all three NCAA divisions. The senior was 5-of-9 from the floor and also had two steals.
* Hall is averaging 9.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 7.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game. She currently ranks 34th in the GSC in scoring, and in the top five in rebounding, assists and steals.

BREWER PICKING UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF IN 2016-17
* Senior Toni Brewer redshirted last season and through the first month of this year, hasn't missed a beat from the play that earned her 2016-17 All-America honors.
* Brewer currently leads the team with 12.6 rebounds per game and seven double-doubles, while ranking second with 16.0 points per game. She is third nationally in double-doubles and eighth in rebounds per game.
* She enters the weekend with 1,293 points and 979 rebounds and ranks in the top six in UWF history in both categories.

REBOUNDING CONTINUES TO BE A STRONG POINT FOR UWF
* Over the past four seasons, the Argonauts have always been a strong rebounding team. This year is no different as UWF ranks second in Division 2 with 35.0 defensive rebounds per game and is third with a 14.2 rebound margin.
* The Argos have finished the year no lower than 22nd in rebound margin over the past four seasons.

UWF STRONG AT HOME UNDER YELTON
* UWF has combined to win 62 games at the UWF Field House in 6-plus seasons under Stephanie Lawrence Yelton. The Argos are 56-17 in the last 5-plus years with a .768 winning pct. They have won at least 10 games four times in the last five years, going 10-2 in 2017-18 and 12-2 in 2016-17.

GSC FEATURES 20-GAME SCHEDULE
* The 2018-19 Gulf South Conference schedule will have teams play 20 league games for the second-consecutive season. Each of the 13 teams will play the other 12 once, with eight opponents in a home-and-away series.
* UWF's single-game opponents are its first four league games - Christian Brothers and Union at home and UAH and Lee on the road. 

UWF PICKED THIRD IN GSC PRESEASON COACHES POLL
* The UWF women's basketball team received one first-place vote and was picked to finish third in the Gulf South Conference preseason poll. 
* UWF is coming off an 18-12 2017-18 campaign that saw the Argonauts go 11-9 in conference play before advancing to the GSC Championship game for the second-consecutive season.
* Defending regular-season and tournament champion Union was picked first with 10 first-place votes and 142 total points. Valdosta State received two first-place votes and 124 points, just three ahead of UWF's 121.
* Lee was fourth with 115 points, while West Georgia, West Alabama and Delta State were in a close group of fifth through seventh. Alabama Huntsville and Christian Brothers tied for eighth, followed by Mississippi College, Auburn-Montgomery, Shorter and Montevallo.

BREWER, NIEMAN NAMED PRESEASON ALL-GSC
* Seniors Toni Brewer and Halee Nieman were each named to the 5-person preseason All-GSC team in a vote by the league's head coaches.
* Brewer, who redshirted in 2017-18, was an Honorable Mention All-America selection as a junior in 2016-17 when she averaged 13.7 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, while registering 19 double-doubles. The Huntsville, Alabama native enters her final season with 1,149 points and 866 rebounds.
* Nieman was a Second Team All-GSC selection last year and is the second-leading returning scorer in the league with 14.7 points per game. She had five double-doubles and scored in double figures in 23 times.

YELTON IN HER SEVENTH SEASON IN PENSACOLA
* UWF head coach Stephanie Lawrence Yelton is in her seventh season at UWF in 2018-19 and has a 112-72 overall record. Her 112 wins rank third in program history.
* The Argonauts have five-consecutive winning seasons and have averaged 20.4 wins in those five years.
* The 102 wins from 2004-18 are the most in any 5-year stretch in program history.

YELTON NAMED TO WBCA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
* UWF head coach Stephanie Lawrence Yelton was voted onto the WBCA Board of Directors as one of two Division II representatives in the summer. The BOD has eight members of the Executive Committee and 21 board members from all levels of women's college basketball.
* This is her first stint with the board and adds to her resume that includes serving on the NCAA South Region Advisory Committee and as a voter on the WBCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll.

FORMER DIVISION I HEAD COACH JOINS UWF COACHING STAFF
* UWF head coach Stephanie Lawrence Yelton added former Presbyterian head coach Todd Steelman to her staff in the off season. The Blue Hose won 25 games overall and 19 Big South Conference contests during his time at the Clinton, S.C. school.
* Former assistant coach LaQuanda Quick was named the head coach at Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C.
