ORLANDO, Fla. - Competing under the lights at the USTA National Campus, the No. 5 UWF Women's Tennis defeated Rollins 9-0 on Friday night.
The Argos did not came to play continuing a series of strong doubles performances. No. 12 ranked Jordana Lujan and Paula Coyos ran their winning streak to six matches by downing Vitanza and Borg 8-2 at the top spot. On courts two and three, Ines Nicault and Valeria Mantilla, and Samantha Echevarria and Diana Vlad both earned 8-5 victories over their opponents to put UWF up 3-0.
The Argos continued to roll through the Tars in singles play, without dropping a set on all six courts. No. 31 Mantilla blazed her way through her match on court 3, dominating Goldman, 6-0, 6-4 on court 3. GSC Player of the Week Nicault earns her third clench of the season as she races past Borg, 6-1, 6-2. The team experienced a domino effect of victories as No. 11 Coyos, No. 36 Vlad, Heather Mixon and Echevarria all finished their matches within a matter of minutes of each other.
The win marked the second shutout of the season for the Argonauts, who will return to action on Saturday against Embry-Riddle. Matches are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. ET in Daytona Beach, Florida.
