MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The UWF men's and women's tennis teams each picked up 5-0 victories over Alabama Huntsville in the first round of the Gulf South Conference Tournament at Lagoon Park on Thursday.

WOMEN'S RECAP
The third-ranked UWF women's squad got things started in the afternoon matches needing just three on-court victories after the Charger women's team defaulted at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

For the Argonauts,
Ines Nicault and
Lais Bicca claimed an 8-2 win at the No. 1 spot, while
Diana Vlad and
Paula Coyos secured a 8-1 decision at the No. 2 spot.

Nicault moved UWF into the semifinals with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Stefanie Mehlich at the No. 1 singles position.

Top-seeded UWF (24-3) will face the winner of the fourth-seeded West Alabama/fifth-seeded North Alabama match on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
MEN'S RECAP
The top seeded men's team got out to a 3-0 lead with relative ease, earning a pair of 8-1 wins at the top two positions from the doubles pairings of Serdar Bojadjiev/ Lucas Sanchez and Alfonso Castellano/Nicholas Springer. At the No. 3 spot, Nicholas Lecoutre and Juan Cabrera earned an 8-3 win.

In singles action, Cabrera improved to 22-0 on the season with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Eliott Hopson at the No. 4 spot. 24th-ranked Lecoutre clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the top spot.

The sixth-ranked Argos (22-2) ran their win streak to 12 matches and will face fourth-seeded Montevallo in the semifinals on Friday at 9:00 a.m.
