#3 Seed UWF Opens NCAA South II Regional Action on Saturday Morning

The third-ranked Argos will face Mississippi College at the Ralph “Skeeter” Carson Tennis Complex

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF women's tennis team will open play in the NCAA Division II Women's South II Region Tournament this weekend, looking to advance to the Round of 16 for the first time since 2013.
 
UWF is 26-3 overall and remained ranked No. 3 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. The Argonauts are the No. 3 seed in the regional and will meet sixth seeded and 25th-ranked Mississippi College (20-2) in the First Round on Saturday at 10 a.m. UWF has defeated MC twice this season – 7-2 in Pensacola on March 31 and 5-1 last Saturday in the Gulf South Conference Tournament Championship Match in Montgomery, Ala.
 
No. 2 seed and fifth-ranked Lynn (19-4) will face No. 7 seed Benedict (19-3) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The winners will meet on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
 
Admission is free to all three matches, which are being hosted by UWF at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex for the second time in the last four years.
 
UWF is appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the 22nd-consecutive year and has a 44-22 all-time record. The team has advanced to the national finals site 11 times but just once in the last nine years.

The Argos' 26 victories in 2018 are tied for the third-most in program history.
 
The 16 regional winners from across the country will advance to the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships in Surprise, Ariz., May 9-12.
