LATEST DIRECTORS' CUP STANDINGS (PDF)
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The University of West Florida climbed 12 spots into ninth place in the latest Learfield Directors' Cup Division II Standings, as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Thursday.
UWF scored 140 points in the sports of men's and women's tennis to push its season total to 442.5. The Argonauts are the highest Gulf South Conference school and the highest in the South Region. UWF had 302.5 points after the fall and winter athletic seasons.
West Florida recorded points in both men's and women's tennis during the latest update.
The Argos scored 90 points thanks to women's tennis' remarkable run to the national championship match and 50 points as a result of men's tennis' tie for 17th with a regional final appearance in the NCAA Tournament. UWF's 140 points are the third most in the country for the spring season thus far.
Grand Valley State took over the top spot from California Baptist who moved to second, while Queens (N.C.) remained in third ahead of Wingate and Colorado School of Mines in the top five.
The next scoring update will be on May 31 and include points earned for the sports of men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, women's rowing, softball and men's and women's track & field. The final rankings will be announced on June 14 following the conclusion of the baseball championship.
