UWF Men's Soccer Looks To Stay Hot At AUM, Montevallo

Argos look to extend win streak at Auburn Montgomery Friday, Montevallo Sunday

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Winners of four in a row, UWF men's soccer will travel to Auburn Montgomery and Montevallo this weekend with a chance to stay undefeated in conference play.

The Argos have scored a combined 19 goals over the last four games, a staggering output that represents the program's most prolific goal scoring streak since 2006.
 
UWF (4-2-1, 2-0-0 GSC) will first travel to Auburn Montgomery (2-6-0, 1-1-0 GSC) Friday at 7:00 p.m. and then conclude the weekend at Montevallo (2-5-0, 1-1-0 GSC) Sunday at 3:30 p.m. UWF will return home for four straight matches beginning Oct. 5.
 
ARGO OFFENSE ON FIRE
 
* UWF has netted at least four goals in four straight games, registering a total of 19 over the last four contests.
 
* The last time UWF netted this many goals in a four-game stretch was September 17 - October 1, 2006 vs. Georgia Southwestern, Ouchita Baptist, Harding and Christian Brothers. West Florida totaled 21 goals over that four-match stretch, which included a 10-0 blowout of Georgia Southwestern.
 
* Sean Hoffstatter has netted a total of seven goals in the four-match win streak, including a pair of hat tricks vs. Christian Brothers and Pensacola Christian. Ed Chappe has totaled eight points over the win streak, scoring three goals and recording two assists.

 
ELLIOTT REACHES 100 GSC WINS AS MEN'S HEAD COACH
 
* UWF head coach Bill Elliott now stands at 100 Gulf South Conference wins in his career as the UWF men's soccer coach. By moving to 2-0 on the season, Elliott reached triple digits in conference play since assuming head coaching duties for the program in 1995. 
 

GSC LEADERS
 
* Hoffstatter's back-to-back hat tricks have vaulted him up the ladder in the GSC. He now leads the conference with eight goals in seven matches. He also leads the conference with 17 points. He is tied for the lead in the GSC with a pair of match-winning goals and ranks third with an average of 2.67 shots per game.
 
* The UWF side features a trio of players in the conference's top ten in assists. Barrett Mills, Rafael Godoi, and Chandler Castleman are in a multi-player tie for third in the GSC with three assists apiece.
 
* Jacob Murray has proven to be one of the most effective keepers in the conference this season. He is currently second in GAA (1.068), third in save percentage (.768) and fourth in saves per game (3.67).
 
* As a team, UWF paces the GSC with in goals per game (3.00), shots (123), and shots on goal (64), and points (56). The team is second in the conference in assists per game (2.167) and GAA (.969). The seven goals scored vs. Pensacola Christian are tied for the most scored in a single game in the conference this year.
 

SCOUTING AUBURN MONTGOMERY
 
* AUM is 2-6-0 overall this season and 1-1-0 in conference play. The Warhawks snapped a six-match losing skid with a double-overtime win at Shorter on Sept. 23. The team's most recent scheduled match vs. Clayton State (Sept. 26) was postponed.
 
* The team is 1-3 at home and 1-3 away this season. The Warhawks have been outscored 17-7 in eight matches.
 
* AUM is led by Tate Dean and Billy Murphy, each of whom have netted two goals this season. Phillip Spickenbaum paces the team with a pair of assists.
 
* In 2017, the Argos defeated the Warhawks 6-0 in a late season home match. The Argos are 2-0 over the last two years vs. AUM, outscoring the Warhawks 11-0 in that span.
 

SCOUTING MONTEVALLO
 
* Montevallo is 2-5-0 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play. The Falcons have lost five of six, with their only win in that span coming vs. Shorter Sep. 21.
 
* Montevallo has proven to be a more effective team on the road this season. The Falcons are 0-2 at home but 2-3 away.
 
* UM has been outscored 16-6 this season. The team has allowed 145 shots while managing 79.
 
* The Falcons are paced by Vladin Margolin, who has recorded four points this season. Montevallo's six goals have been scored by six different players this year.
 
* The Argos are 6-4-1 vs. Montevallo since 2005 but have not beaten the Falcons since 2008. The last four matches have resulted in three losses and one tie for UWF.
