Rome, Ga.- Two late second half goals from forward
Teavon Spencer and senior midfielder
Rafael Godoi gave the 14th ranked UWF Men's Soccer team the right to earn a 3-3 draw and a crucial point against conference foe, Shorter, on Sunday night at Ben Brady Field.
West Florida (8-1-1, 4-1-1) generally outplayed the Hawks in the match by outshooting them 16-10 and having six corners as opposed to Shorter's three.
The first half saw both teams trade chances with the Argos getting five shots but just could not find the net against the Hawks goalkeeper, Matthew Shorrocks.
The second half was a much different story with six goals combined in the half by both teams. It would get started in the 57th minute by Alves. The Brazilian native would put one in the net to give the Argos a brief 1-0 lead and his second goal of the season.
After three unanswered goals by the Hawks, the Argonauts would mount a furious rally to tie it up with Spencer and Godoi in the 74th and 84th minute, respectively. For Godoi, it was his first goal of the season in a big moment while Spencer, the Jamaican native notched his third.
The overtime periods saw a couple good chances for the Argos with Godoi, senior
Sean Hoffstatter and midfielder
Ed Chappe getting good shots on net, but unfortunately they just would not go in.
Next Up: The Argonauts will travel to Alabama next weekend to face Alabama Hunstville on Friday, while they finish off the road trip by taking on West Alabama on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff versus the Chargers is set for 7:30pm while the match-up with the Tigers is due for 3:00pm.
