Argos Come Up Short Against No. 18 Lee

UWF is 7-3 Overall & 4-2 in GSC Action

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – West Florida fell to Lee University on Sunday afternoon after the Flames scored a late goal in the 86th minute to defeat the Argos 1-0. The loss has dropped the Argonauts to 4-2 in Gulf South Conference play this season and 7-3 overall.
 
FIRST HALF: In the first half both teams were held scoreless, as both defenses started the game strong. West Florida had six shots on goal in the first half, but were unable to put one in the back of the net.

SECOND HALF: The only goal of the match came in the 86th minute when Lee midfielder Riley Engels scored to give the Flames the lead. The Argos took seven corner kicks in the second half.

OVERALL STATS: UWF outshot Lee 13-9. West Florida had nine corner kicks in today's match, and held the Flames to only three.
 
NEXT UP: The Argonauts will play at Alabama Huntsville next Friday at 5:00pm CT at Charger Park and visit West Alabama on Sunday at 1:00pm CT. Alabama Huntsville is (3-7-1) overall and West Alabama is (5-3-1) this season.
