Argonauts Blowout the Blazers in Three Sets

UWF remains undefeated in the GSC

VALDOSTA, Ga. –  The Argonauts will come home from their weekend in Georgia with two more wins under their belts. Tonight UWF took on VSU and came out with a 3-0 win in 25-16, 25-14, 25-10 decisions. 

UWF now moves to 5-0 in the GSC and 12-5 overall. Valdosta State is now 2-3 in the GSC and 10-8 overall. 

The Argos were out to win from the start and their numbers showed that tonight. As a team, UWF hit .369 on the match and in the last set alone, as a team UWF hit .500. Senior Jordyn Poppen lead the team in kills recording 10 kills on 16 attacks and a single error. She was followed by Senior Ebony Powers who recorded nine kills and then Veresia Yon who had seven. Yon also lead the team in blocks with eight blocks and two of those being solo.

As a team, the Argos had 14 blocks to the Blazers six and six of UWF's blocks were solo. Poppen lead in digs with 14 and was followed by Junior Ashton Marshall recorded 11 digs this match. The Argos offense was absolutely dominate this match and the block was active resulting in a slower match for the defense, but they were there when needed. 

The Argos will head home to practice for the week, but will be back on the road next weekend as they travel to Auburn Montgomery on Thursday, October 10 and then they will play at Montevallo on Friday, October 11 to wrap up their away stretch. UWF's next home match will be on Tuesday, October 15 against Belhaven at 7:00 PM for West Florida Volleyball's Annual Pack It Pink Night.
