Argonauts set for GSC finals showdown with Lee

Fourth time in five years UWF will be in final

Pensacola, Fla.- Following a 2-0 victory over Alabama Huntsville in the semifinals, the UWF Men's Soccer team will face Lee on Sunday afternoon in the GSC Tournament Final at Ashton Brosnaham Park.  The match-up is set for 12pm CT.

This marks the fourth time in five years that West Florida will make an appearance in the title game.

UWF (13-1-3) comes into the contest as the third seed while Lee (11-4-4) is listed as the number 4 seed.  The Flames upset the tournament one seed, Mississippi College, in overtime during Friday's first semifinal game.

The Argonauts used two different goal scorers to surge past the Chargers in their semifinal victory.  Ed Chappe opened the scoring in the eighth minute off an assist from midfielder Davi Alves.  The seventh goal of the year for Chappe put him into a tie for the team lead with forward Sean Hoffstatter.  Fellow senior Hakeem Reid came off the bench to put the game on ice in the 83rd minute off a beautiful pass from Andy Wentz to collect his second goal of the season.

About Lee: The Flames are unbeaten in their previous seven contests, which includes the aforementioned match-up with Mississippi College and a victory in the GSC Opening Round against Christian Brothers.  GSC offensive player of the year, Jared McWhorter, paces the offense with seven goals and 16 points on 54 shots while Tristan Lyle provides support up top with five goals of his own.  Florida native Daniel Hrenko has been rock solid in net all season, starting all 19 games, tallying 52 saves and recording nine shutouts.

The Argos won the lone previous match-up of the teams this season by a score of 2-0 in Tennessee.  Bernardo Torres and Chappe lifted the Argonaut offense with goals in the 57th and 59th minute, respectively.
