Pensacola, Fla.- The University of West Florida returns to action after a week off when they host Lee on Sunday inside the UWF Field House. Tipoff between the Argonauts and Flames is set for 4pm.
ABOUT UWF
* UWF comes into the contest at 3-5 overall following a sweep of Tuskegee and Spring Hill two weeks ago.
* The Argos rank 32nd in the country in scoring defense, allowing teams to score an average of 66.9 points per game. Offensively, UWF averages 64.3 ppg and has three players scoring in double figures, led by sophomore Jon Brown's 22.2 ppg.
* Brown was named the GSC Player of the Week last week after averaging 27 points and 10 rebounds against the Tigers and Badgers. He had 23 vs. Tuskegee and 31 against SHC. He has three double-doubles in five games this year.
* Freshman Daniel Sofield leads the team with 22 3-pointeers and is third on the team with 10.3 points per contest. He has made at least 1 triple in every game this season.
* Junior Lawrence Williams has made 21-of-23 free throws and leads the GSC and 27th nationally with 91.3 percent conversion rate.
* UWF shot 51 percent in the second half of the Spring Hill game and also made four of its seven 3-pointers after the half.
SCOUTING LEE
* Lee comes into the Field House with a 6-3 record and a 4-game winning streak following a 2-3 start. Their 1-1 GSC record features a loss to AUM and a win over Shorter.
* Ryan Montgomery leads the Flames with 22.8 points per game and a 60 pct. effort on his shots. He is one of three players with at least 10 made 3-pointers. Parker Suedekum is second in the league in steals and third in assists.
* The Flames lead the GSC and are 22nd in the country at 50.6 pct. field goal shooting as a team.
WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE
* During the month of December, the UWF Athletics Department is accepting new and gently used hats, coats, gloves and winter clothing to aid individuals and families in the Pensacola area. Donation bins will be setup in the UWF Field House and at all nine home basketball games in preparation for delivery to the Waterfront Rescue Mission on Dec. 21st with our corporate partner Coastal Moving and Storage.
