Pensacola, Fla.- Coming off a win over Spring Hill at home last Saturday, the UWF Women's Basketball will look to make it two in a row when they host Lee inside the UWF Field House on Sunday afternoon. Tip-off between the Argonauts and Flames is set for 2pm CT.
ABOUT UWF
* UWF returns to Gulf South Conference play this week following a split two weeks ago agaisnt Columbus State and Spring Hill. The Argonauts were off last week for final exams.
* In UWF's last game, the squad shot 37 percent but made a season-high 26 field goals. The team committed just two turnovers - a new school record.
* UWF has a plus-3.2 rebound margin this season and outrebounded six of its eight opponents.
* Junior Danielle Norquest leads the team with 13.8 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, sitting just one rebounds shy of averaging a double-double. Her 45.7 pct. field goal shooting is 11th in the GSC.
* Sophomore Charlotte Ellmore is second on the team in scoring and leads the squad with 25 assists, with 3.5 assists per game placing her ninth in the league.
NORQUEST AMONG DOUBLE-DOUBLE LEADERS
* UWF junior Danielle Norquest recorded her fifth double-double of the season against SHC with 16 points and 13 rebounds. She currently ranks second in the GSC and 10th nationally in that category. Additionally, her 4.0 offensive rebounds per game place her second in the GSC and 20th in the country.
SCOUTING LEE
* Lee comes into the game ranked No. 5 in the country and sporting a school-record tying 10-0 record. The Lady Flames are 3-0 away from home, collecting wins over Saint Leo and Florida Southern the opening week of the year and at AUM just before Thanksgiving.
* Lee is 39th in the country in scoring, averaging 77.9 points per game. They 37 in field goal percent age at 45.1 pct. and 10th nationally in field goal defense, holding teams to 32.6 pct. and 54.4 ppg.
SERIES HISTORY
* Lee holds an 8-4 series edge against UWF all-time. The teams are tied 3-3 in games played in Pensacola. The Argos won the last meeting, 76-70, a year ago in Cleveland, Tenn. UWF will be trying to win consecutive games agaisnt Lee for the first time.
WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE
* During the month of December, the UWF Athletics Department is accepting new and gently used hats, coats, gloves and winter clothing to aid individuals and families in the Pensacola area. Donation bins will be setup in the UWF Field House and at all nine home basketball games in preparation for delivery to the Waterfront Rescue Mission on Dec. 21st with our corporate partner Coastal Moving and Storage.
