UWF Looking to Fill The Field House for Senior Night on Thursday Vs. Valdosta State

The Argonauts are ranked 19th in the country

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Riding an 11-game winning streak and making its first appearance in the national rankings in two seasons, the UWF women's basketball team is trying to FILL THE FIELD HOUSE for SENIOR NIGHT on THURSDAY against Valdosta State. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m. at the UWF Field House.

SENIOR NIGHT
* UWF will honor its four seniors prior to the game for their hard work and devotion over the past 5 season as members of the program.
* Belle Bistrow has been one of the top 3-point shooters in program history, making 156 which ranks second at UWF. The Jacksonville, Fla. native leads the GSC in all three long-range shooting categories: 3-point pct at .429; 3-pointers per game at 3.0; & total 3-pointers with 75. She also ranks among the NCAA D2 leaders: 8th in 3-pointers made; 13th in 3-pointers per game and 15th in 3-point percentage.
* Toni Brewer is the winningest player to play at UWF, being a part of 86 victories in her four seasons. She is the school's all-time leading rebounder with 1,141 and ranks second in scoring with 1,593 points. Her 54 double-doubles are also a school record. Next month she will join former teammate Katie Bobos as the only players in program history to participate in three NCAA Tournaments during their careers.
* In her only season wearing the Blue & Green, Anna Hall has been the top point guard in the GSC. After three seasons at Saginaw Valley State, she has established career highs at UWF in assists, steals, rebounds and 3-pointers. She leads the GSC with 7.3 assists per game and her 182 total assists are third in a season at UWF.
* Halee Nieman will wrap her college career as one of the top scorers in the GSC. In two seasons at UWF, the Midland, Mich. native has scored 873 points and grabbed 378 rebounds. The 873 points are the third-most at UWF by a 2-year player. Her 17.9 ppg in 2018-19 is in the top 12 all-time at UWF.

WIN STREAK REACHES 11
* The Argos have won a school-record 11-consecutive games. The 2005-06 team previously held the mark when it won 10-in-a-row from Dec. 16-Jan. 23 on its way to a 23-7 record. Additionally, the current stretch of 11 wins over GSC opponents bettered the previous mark of nine held by the 2005-06 squad.

BREWER BECOMES THE PROGRAM'S WINNINGEST PLAYER
* With the win over Mississippi College last Saturday, Toni Brewer was part of 85 wins over her four years of competition, moving her into first place all-time at UWF. Belle Bistrow is tied for second on the lists at 84 wins with former teammate Katie Bobos (2013-17) and Kearstin Howald (1997-2001).

ARGOS RANKED NO. 19 NATIONALLY AND NO. 3 IN NCAA SOUTH REGION
* As a result of the 11-game win streak, the Argonauts have caught the eye of the national pollsters. UWF moved into No. 19 nationally in the D2 Sports Information Directors of America Women's Basketball Media Poll on Tuesday.
* The first edition of the NCAA Division 2 Basketball Regional Rankings were announced on Wednesday and the Argonauts are listed at No. 3, behind Union and Florida Southern. These rankings help the NCAA D2 national committee determine the field for the regional tournaments.

BREWER UP TO 18 DOUBLE-DOUBLES
* Senior Toni Brewer had two more double-doubles last week against the Mississippi schools, moving her season total to a GSC-leading 18. That is also second in the country. She now has 54 career double-doubles which is second among active Division 2 players.

BISTROW MAKING IT RAIN IN HER FINAL SEASON
* Throughout her career, Belle Bistrow has been known as a strong 3-point shooter. But in her senior season she has come on strong and leads the GSC in all three long-range shooting categories: 3-point pct at .429; 3-pointers per game at 3.0; & total 3-pointers with 75.
* The Jacksonville, Fla. native also ranks among the NCAA D2 leaders: 8th in 3-pointers made; 13th in 3-pointers per game and 15th in 3-point percentage.
* She is also one of the top perimeter defenders in the GSC who routinely draws the opponent's best outside threat on defense. She also ranks second in the GSC and is 26th in the country in minutes played at 35.7.

ABOUT VALDOSTA STATE
* VSU is 17-8 overall and has won six of its last eight contests. The Lady Blazers are 11-6 in GSC play and currently in fourth place.
* VSU is second in the GSC in rebounds with 41.5 per game, just behind UWF's 43.6. The Lady Blazers lead the GSC with 14.8 offensive boards per contest.
* Kayla Bonilla leads the team and ranks 16th in the GSC in scoring at 12.0 points per game. She has scored in double figures in 13-straight games and is also fifth in the league with 3.5 assists per game.

UWF-VALDOSTA STATE SERIES HISTORY
* Valdosta State leads the all-time series 30-21, but UWF has won nine of the last 13 overall. The Argos have been victorious the last five against the Blazers in Pensacola.
