Dr. Jim & Judy Weaver moved to Pensacola 50 years ago, with Jim teaching in the Math department at UWF for 35 of those years. They remain close with the University and give back annually to support the Athletic programs.
"Thank you for asking us about our support for UWF Athletics. You know that we love the university and have been a part of many of its activities over the past 50 years. The addition of the football program rounded out a very prestigious group of programs at UWF which we have enjoyed supporting over the years. These athletic programs support the athletes in their chosen academic endeavors as well as their chosen sport. As students ourselves in the 1960s we were involved in athletics. We appreciated what our universities had to offer us in both our academic fields and the chance to compete in sports at the university level. We know it takes additional funds for the university to keep the athletic programs on track and growing. This is why we give to UWF Athletics. We cherish the friendships we've made with the athletic staff, coaches, and athletes. There is always something going on and we enjoy being a part of it. The Argo Athletic Club is a special group of people and the various times we get together have always been special and enable us to learn more about the different programs. Hopefully our donations and support will help in some way as we move forward in time."
