Donor Spotlight: Ron and Linda Midlam

Ron and I give to UWF Athletics because they have given so much to us.  Linda was in one of the first graduating classes at UWF (1971) with her degree in Physical Education and has loved it ever since. Our girls attended UWF on Softball and Soccer scholarships and also graduated from UWF.  The lessons and values they learned from athletics are always with them:  team work, leadership, time management, sportsmanship, handling pressure, fitness, health, responsibility, commitment. I could go on…

We continue to give annually because we know how important athletics are to the development of these young people.  We attend many of their practices and games and follow their stats and records. We have also been able to take classes at UWF under the Senior Citizen program and enjoy listening to the young people's ideas. We can pick out the athletes because of their zest for life. We live very close to the University and love being around the students.  So, you could say UWF is imbedded in our lives.

Our modest donations are to be used how ever the the department needs them.  We know the State of Florida does not cover all the expenses and we sure don't want the departments to have to cut back on services.  We get a lot of enjoyment from knowing we have helped in some way.

Our passion for UWF Athletics comes from seeing these young people learning and growing from their encounters at UWF and then seeing them growing into successful young people.
