The 2019 edition of the University of West Florida Men's Soccer team will hit the road for the first time this season as they head to Winter Park for a match-up with Rollins. Kickoff is set for 12 pm.
The season has been a success so far as the Argonauts have triumphed in their first two games, with each ending in a 2-1 result in favor of the home team. In their season opener, West Florida was locked in 1-1 battle with the University of Tampa until redshirt senior forward
Sean Hoffstatter scored in the 108th minute to give UWF the win, while
Davi Alves was the hero in their recent contest with a goal in the 68th minute against Saint Leo University. Hoffstatter leads all Argonaut players with two goals and four points on seven shots. Both players were rewarded for their play as received the conference freshman and player of the week, respectively.
Meanwhile, this will be Rollins first match of the season as their previous two games on the schedule were canceled due to Hurricane Dorian. The Tars will be looking towards defender/midfielder George New who was third on the team in shots last season as well as Kevin da Rocha Figueira to provide offfense this season. Coming off a 10-6 this season, Rollins looks to return to the postseason after missing out last season.
The Argonauts look to continue their recent success against the Tars as they won last season's contest by a tally of 3-0. All-time, UWF has struggled against Rollins as they have only managed to win four out of a possible 14 contests.
Following the quick road trip, West Florida will return home to face the University of Mobile where they have dominated the all-time series with six wins in nine match-ups between the two schools. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm on September 16th from the UWF Soccer Complex.
