PENSACOLA, Fla. –The No. 13 ranked University of West Florida women's soccer team heads to the state of Tennessee to take on Christian Brothers University at 5pm on Friday and Union University at 1pm on Sunday. This weekend will be the start of Gulf South Conference competition for the Argonauts.

* West Florida climbed to #13 in the United Soccer Coaches poll this week. UWF and Lee University are the only two teams from the Gulf South Conference ranked in the top 25 poll. Lee University is still ranked #5, after having the week off this past week. The Argonauts will play against the Lee Flames in Cleveland, Tennessee on October 13
th.
Player Spotlight
* Midfielder Anita Daníelsdóttir was named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week for her impressive performance for the Argos last week. Daníelsdóttir scored the only goal for the Argos in their 1-0 victory over Saint Leo in a critical regional game on Sunday afternoon. It was her second goal of the year.
Upcoming Weekend Matchups
* Christian Brothers is (4-1) overall and riding a three-game winning streak into their matchup Friday. Their only loss came to Clayton State in double overtime by a final score of 2-1. The Buccaneers also faced Saint Leo this season and beat them 2-1. West Florida defeated Saint Leo 1-0 last Sunday. UWF has played CBU 28 times in program history and are (19-9) against the Bucs, with a record of 7-2 when visiting the Signaigo Field.
* Union is (1-2) overall and has lost two straight, Florida Tech 3-0 and Tennessee at Chattanooga 5-0. Their only victory came against Florida Southern in double overtime with a final score of 2-1. The Bulldogs will be hosting Spring Hill on Friday night before they face off against the Argos on Sunday. UWF is (6-1) all-time against Union, and is 3-1 at the Smith Memorial Soccer Complex.
