West Florida Overcomes Mississippi College in Five

The Argonauts turn around tomorrow to face West Alabama

PENSACOLA, Fla. –  The Argos came out tonight and won another five set match taking everyone on an intense volleyball packed ride against the Choctaws. UWF and MC alternated sets with the Argos winning sets one, three, and five and MC taking two and four.

In the end, UWF prevailed in set five 15-9 and won the match 3-2.

Against Mississippi College (W, 3-2): UWF came out ready to go in the first set with the offense alive and together they hit a .321 to MC .040. From then on, both teams evened out each hitting in the .200's making it an even offensive match. 

For UWF, Phoebe Hozeska had a great night with some vital momentum boosting kills hitting a .286 with nine kills on 21 attacks and 3 errors. Jordyn Poppen had an outstanding match recording a double-double racking up 20 kills on 49 attacks and three errors hitting a .347 and with 15 digs on the night. Ashton Marshall led the team in digs with 23 and also had herself two kills in the match.

Tomorrow the Argos will face West Alabama to wrap up this home series for UWF. First serve will be at 1:00 PM at the UWF Field House and following the match, there will be a Volleyball Kids Clinic for all those wanting to participate ran by the UWF Volleyball Team.

West Alabama goes into tomorrow's match 5-9 and 2-0 after losing Auburn Montgomery tonight at AUM. The Tigers fell in five sets with a deciding set score of 17-15. 

The Argos and the Tigers have a great history of competing against one another and the last time the two teams battled was in the GSC Championship match last year that went to five sets with the Argos winning 15-13. 

The Argos all-time standings with the Tigers is 31-4 overall and 17-1 at home. The last time UWF lost to UWA was in 2009 in five sets at West Alabama in Livingston.
