JACKSON, Tenn. – West Florida wrapped up their first weekend of Gulf South Conference play with a 2-0 shutout victory against Union at the Smith Memorial Soccer Complex located in Jackson, Tennessee on Sunday afternoon.
FIRST HALF: Sophomore
Kendall Bobbitt struck the back of the net in the 26
th minute to give the Argos the early lead. Junior
Annie Rolf picked up the assist on the play. West Florida outshot Union 16-1 and had eight corner kicks in the first half.
SECOND HALF: The Argonuats started the second half strong with Anita Danielsdottir scoring in the 51
st minute off an assist from
Carina Widauer to increase their lead to two. The defense continued their dominance in the second half limiting the Bulldogs to zero shots on goal the entire game.
OVERALL STATS: UWF outshot CBU 32-2. West Florida had an impressive 17 total corner kicks in today's match, and held the Buccaneers to none.
NEXT UP: The Argos will return home to host Montevallo on Friday night at 7:30pm CT at the UWF Soccer Complex and Auburn-Montgomery on Sunday at 3pm CT. Montevallo is (4-1-2) overall and Auburn-Montgomery is (0-6) this season. Next week will be homecoming week for the University of West Florida.
