PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 8 University of West Florida women's soccer team will begin their 2019 season by hosting Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday at the UWF Soccer Complex at 1pm. Trevecca Nazarene is located in Nashville, Tennessee. West Florida has fared well against teams from the state of Tennessee, with an overall record of 36-15-2.

Preseason Poll
* For the 13th time in the last 16 seasons, the University of West Florida women's soccer team was picked as the league favorite in the Gulf South Conference preseason coaches' poll, released on August 6
th.
* UWF picked up 12 of 13 possible first-place votes, earning 168 total points in the poll. The Argonauts, who were ranked #8, are joined by two other GSC teams to enter the 2019 season ranked in the top 25 of the United Soccer Coaches Poll. Lee College is ranked #6, and Mississippi College comes in ranked at #13.
* West Florida had an impressive year in 2018, going 13-0 in conference play and outscoring conference opponents 45-7 in the regular season. That win total pushed UWF's all-time GSC record to 169-17, good for a .908 winning percentage.
Last Year Highlights
* Few programs could come close to matching what UWF women's soccer has done since 2000, and the 2018 campaign was one of the best in school history. West Florida picked up their 11
th Gulf South Conference Title, winning 20 matches and putting up 13 team shutouts last season.
* Head Coach
Joe Bartlinski picked up his 300th win at UWF, something only 12 other women's soccer coaches at the Division II level have accomplished. Bartlinski is close to reaching 500 total wins in his career as a collegiate coach, as he currently sits at 499 total wins.
* UWF took home ten GSC Postseason Awards this year, earning Coach of the Year, Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Four First Team All-GSC awards, and Three Second Team All-GSC awards.
The Returners
* Four Argonauts have been awarded Preseason All-GSC Team honors,
Esthefanny Barreras,
Celine Rumpf,
Peyton Peffers, and
Jessica Quixley. Barreras ranked third in all of Division II in Save Percentage (.903) and fourth in Goals Against Average (.306). Rumpf helped the Argos' defense record 13 shutouts last year, while holding opponents to just (0.43) Goals Per Game, and only allowed nine goals all season. Peffers co-led the team in scoring with 10 goals and finished the season with two assists. She was the conference leader in Game-Winning Goals (6). Quixley started all 21 games last season totaling 1,771 minutes for UWF as a sophomore and co-led the team with 10 goals scored.
