Coach Bartlinski Picks up Career Win 500

Newcomers Help Lead Argos to Victory in Debut

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Eighth-ranked UWF defeated Trevecca Nazarene 2-0, at the UWF Soccer Complex Saturday afternoon to start their 2019 season. Two newcomers scored in the second half to help propel the Argos over the Trojans.

The victory was a historic one as head coach Joe Bartlinski picked up his 500th career win. He owns an overall record of 305-50-20 at UWF and has the second-highest winning percentage all-time among D2 women's soccer coaches.
 
FIRST HALF: West Florida dominated the time of possession in the first half totaling eleven shots and limiting the Trojans to only one shot. The Trojans' goalkeeper made a couple of saves (six total) to keep the game scoreless at the half.

SECOND HALF: Both goals in the game were scored in the second half by the Argos. Freshman Anita Danielsdottir scored her first Argonaut goal, giving the Argos their first lead of the season in the 65th minute. The Argos added onto their lead in the 84th minute when Junior transfer Annie Rolf delivered a strike to the back of the net from outside the box.

OVERALL STATS: UWF outshot Trevecca Nazarene 23-2. West Florida had eleven corner kicks this afternoon, while holding the Trojans to only five.
 
NEXT UP: The Argos will face Rollins College on the road next Friday at 7pm ET in Winter Park, Florida at the Barker Family Stadium at Cahall-Sandspur Field. Rollins is 1-1 overall, losing to #1 ranked Grand Valley State 5-2 and defeating Cedarville 4-3 in double overtime.
