Women's Hoops Heads North to Montevallo on Monday

The Argonauts are looking to win their first GSC game of the season

* The UWF women's basketball team will close its 2-game road swing as it opens a 3-game week on Monday night at Montevallo. The game at Trustmark Arena in the UM campus in Calera, Ala., will tip off at 5:30 p.m.

ABOUT UWF
* UWF is 4-9 overall and 0-5 in Gulf South Conference play after Thursday's narrow 60-59 road loss to Valdosta State. The Argos are 4-1 this season when scoring 59 points or more and 0-8 when failing to hit the number.
* UWF is shooting just 33 percent as a tam but staying in games with a plus-6.7 rebound margin. The team has won the battle on the glass in eight games, including the last four. Against VSU, the Argos grabbed a season-high 27 offensive rebounds that led to a season-high 70 field goal attempts.
* UWF had 10 steals on Thursday and have swiped three of their top five totals in the last three games.
* Junior Danielle Norquest leads the country with 10 doubles-doubles and is averaging 14.5 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. Her rpg are eighth in the country. She has eight-consecutive double-doubles after her 19-point, 16-rebound effort at Valdosta State on Thursday. Sophomore Charlotte Ellmore averages 8.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and a team-high 3.8 assists per game in her first season at UWF. 

ABOUT MONTEVALLO
* UM is 9-2 overall and tied for first in the GSC at 4-1. The Falcons are coming off their first league loss, a 69-50 setback to AUM on Saturday. It also snapped a 6-game winning streak which included five over GSC squads.
* The Warhawks were the first team to hold standout Shyan Flack to single digits in the scoring column. Flack had scored 11-or-more points in all 10 UM games prior to Saturday's contest, where she was held to just eight points. She leads the Falcons in scoring with 16.5 points per game and shoot 57 percent.

SERIES HISTORY
* UWF leads the series 26-8 dating back to the 1995-96 season and is 11-5 when playing at Montevallo. UWF has won all four meetings since the Falcons transitioned back to the GSC in the 2016-17 campaign. 

UP NEXT
* UWF will return home to host the Mississippi schools Thursday and Saturday. Thursday's game against Delta State is a White Out night with all fans encouraged to wear white to the game. The first 100 students at both the 5:30 p.m. women's game and the 7:30 p.m. men's game will receive a free t-shirt.
