PENSACOLA, Fla. – Charlotte Ellmore led the UWF women's basketball team with 13 points but the Argonauts fell to No. 16 Delta State, 62-44, at the UWF Field House Thursday night.
 
UWF struggled to score in large stretches during the second and fourth quarters, while Delta State used its size advantage inside to grab a 24-14 edge in points in the paint.
 
UWF (4-11, 0-7 Gulf South) shot 26 percent and was 4-of-17 from outside. Ellmore also had a team-best four assists. Rachel McCree scored eight points, while Danielle Norquest and Fanny Hulmi had seven points each. 
 
Delta State (12-1, 5-1) got 19 points from Zyaire Ewing and Quantesha Patterson had a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds. The Lady Statesmen shot 38 percent.
 
DSU outscored UWF 17-8 in the second quarter to grab a 32-20 lead going into the locker room. The Argos were unable to work the deficit to single digits the remainder of the game.
 
UWF will return to action on Saturday at home against Mississippi College (7-6, 4-3). Tip-off against the Lady Choctaws is at 2 p.m.
