Stephen and Kimberly Hopkins are proud UWF graduates with degrees in Master of Science. They have continued to support their alma mater since 2015 while leading the industry in Cyber Security. You can find Steve and Kimberly in the stands or in the crowd at many Argo events. We appreciate you both!
Why do you give to UWF Athletics?
UWF Athletes prove time and again their commitment extends beyond the field, court, or water. They are committed to making an impact. As a UWF Alumni and UWF Instructor, I meet the student-athletes at their events and on the campus. They provide a positive contribution to the UWF organization.
Why do you continue to give annually?
When I was earning my undergraduate degree, our football team made it to a high ranking in Division I Football. The community could not fill the stands. Regardless of ranking, our athletes, students, staff, and community should pull together to make the best UWF Team showing possible. This takes all of us. Kim and I are just two people but we are two UWF people. Add a few more and we have a group. Add even more and we have the best collegiate organization around. UWF is that organization. That's why I give annually.
What impact do you think your annual donations have on the UWF Athletic Department?
I think our annual donations help provide the UWF Athletic Department resources not only to compete on the field but also to prepare our student-athletes off the field. As a former youth coach, my job was to help develop and lead girls and boys towards becoming great women and men. Our donation helps the UWF Athletic Department develop great women and men.
What makes you passionate about UWF Athletics?
There are so many great experiences which contribute to this. I have a couple which come to mind often. A couple of years ago, we traveled to an away playoff game. It was an incredible game. Great effort on the field. Awesome fans in the bleachers. We did not have a band nor a song. The other team did. Their band played often and loud. By the end of the second quarter, we had a song and we sang it to the tune the opposing band was playing. I remember the band director looking at his fans and seeing little engagement with the band. He then looked at UWF and our engagement. He shrugged his shoulders and kept on playing. We kept on singing. After the win we stepped on the field to congratulate the players Every player to the very last one greeted us openly and thanked us for our support. They could have talked about their awesome performance or something else. Instead they chose to include thank us for our support. When you have a team that extends beyond the field, you have champions. What a game. What a story.
