UWF Looks To Keep Momentum Going On Mississippi Road Swing

The Argonauts are 7-3 in their last 10 & 2 games out of third place in the GSC

ABOUT UWF
* UWF enters Thursday's contest with a 12-11 overall record. The Argonauts are in sixth place in the Gulf South Conference at 9-7 following their sweep of West Georgia and Shorter last week,
* UWF has gone 11-6 in its last 17 games and 7-3 in their last 10.
* The Argos are 13th in the GSC in scoring with 63.9 points per game and third in scoring defense, allowing just 66.1 ppg. West Georgia Is 2nd in the GSC in scoring and 12th scoring defense.
Jon Brown has scored in double figures 16 of his 18 games this season. He is third in the GSC with 18.5 ppg. He has done a lot of his damage at the free-throw line, where he is first in free throws made (111) and attempted (145), and is tenth in FT pct. (76.6).
* Tarik Mckelphin has continued his success over the last road trip averaging 10 ppg and 7.5 rpg. He is second on the team with 10.1 ppg, and is second on the team in rebounding with 5.4 rpg. He has scored in doubles figures ten times this year - all of those in the last 15 contests.
Conor Flanagan had a solid two games at AUM and West Alabama last week, averaging 10.5 ppg while shooting 50% from the field over the two games.

UWF WITH BEST 10-GAME STRETCH IN TWO SEASONS
* UWF is 7-3 in its last 10 games, producing its best 10-game effort since ending the 2017-18 season with an 10-1 mark.
* The Argonauts are not the only GSC team playing well. Valdosta State has won 11-consecutive and Lee is 9-1 in its last 10. UAH, West Alabama and Union are also 7-3 in their last 10 contests.

COX WITH STRONG WEEK
* Junior PG Cameron Cox averaged 14.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and shot 67 pct overall and 75 pct from the FT line last week. Had his second double-double of the year in the win over Shorter on Saturday. The Canton, Ga. product had 11 points in the second half vs. West Georgia. He finished with 16 points against the Wolves and combined with Jon Brown to score 10 of the team's final 14 points as UWF outscored UWG 17-9 in the last 8:15.
* Cox also had 10 assists and just 2 turnovers in 54 minutes of play (currently third in the GSC in assist-to-turnover ratio). UWF has gone 7-3 in the last 10 games and is now just two games out of third place.

ABOUT DELTA STATE
* Delta State is 8-15 overall and 4-11 in league play following their 74-67 defeat at Union on Saturday. The Statesmen are 7-4 at home.
* The Statesmen rank 9th in the GSC in scoring (70.6 ppg) and 11th in scoring defense (77.2 ppg).
* Keyshaun Street is the team's leading scorer (14.9 ppg) and is second on the team in assists (59).
* Arien Brooks is the Statesmen's leading rebounder (10.3 rpg) and is second on the team in scoring (14.8 ppg). Anderson McCoy leads the squad in assists (89) and is third in scoring (11.6 ppg).
* DSU is 1-9 since their loss at UWF on Jan. 9.

UWF-DELTA STATE SERIES HISTORY
* Delta State leads the all-time series 15-10. The teams split their two games a year ago, with DSU winning in Cleveland, 71-62, and the Argonauts claiming a 73-70 win in Pensacola on Valentine's Day.
* The Argonauts claimed a 68-67 win at the UWF Field House last month, which seemed to spark the success over the last 10 games. In the game, UWF shot 42 percent, but won this game at the free throw line where they went 17-for-22, including a Tarik Mckelphin free throw with no time left on the clock.

ABOUT MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE
* Mississippi College is 8-13 overall and 4-11 in GSC action following a 93-59 loss to Auburn Montgomery on Saturday. 
* Mississippi College ranks 12th in the GSC in scoring (66.2 ppg) and 8th in scoring defense (72.9 ppg).
* The Choctaws leading scorer is Winceton Edwards (14.0 ppg). Darrion Taylor is their second-leading scorer (14.2 ppg) and leads the team in assists (66). Zach Jones is their leading rebounder (7.6 rpg).
* Ross Winford leads the GSC in blocks (51) and is second on the team in rebounding (7.2 rpg) and scoring (11.3 ppg).

UWF-MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE SERIES HISTORY
* The Argos are 8-4 all-time against the Choctaws. UWF had won seven-consecutive before MC grabbed a 77-71 win in Pensacola on Feb. 16 a year ago.
* UWF cruised to a 66-44 win over MC in Pensacola last month. The Argonauts shot 40 percent and held the Choctaws to 29.6 percent. UWF got out to a 17-5 lead and never slowed down, leading 34-18 at the half. Tarik Mckelphin had 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Argos.
