Women's Hoops Heads To Mississippi For Final Two Road Games

The Argos will face Delta State on Thursday and Mississippi College on Saturday

* UWF hits the road for the final time this season, taking on Delta State in Cleveland, Miss. on Thursday night and Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss. on Saturday afternoon.

ABOUT UWF
* UWF is coming off a split weekend, where the Argonauts fell to West Georgia before defeating Shorter.
* UWF has a plus-7.5 rebound margin this season and outrebounded 17 opponents.
* Junior Danielle Norquest leads the team with 14.4 points and 12.7 rebounds per game. She has scored in double figures in 20 of 24 games. She ranks 13th in the GSC in scoring and second in rebounds. She also ranks in the top 15 in FG pct (15th) and FT pct. (14th). She enters the week with 585 career points and 466 rebounds in 81 total games.
* Sophomore Charlotte Ellmore is second on the team in scoring with 9.3 points per game and leads the squad with 3.8 assists per game.
* Senior Faithe Franklin ranks third at UWF in scoring, second in assists (3.1) and rebounds (6.5).
* Sophomore Rachel McCree has been on fire lately, averaging 14.2 ppg over the last nine games with six in double figures, raising her season scoring mark to 9.1 ppg.

NORQUEST AMONG DOUBLE-DOUBLE LEADERS
* Danielle Norquest currently ranks fourth in the country in double-doubles with 18. That figure leads the GSC and is currently third in the UWF single-season record book behind Toni Brewer's last two years on campus, when she had 19 in 2016-17 and 21 in 2018-19.

THE LAST TIME OUT
* UWF shot 35 percent but got the free throw line 27 times to help the scoring output, as the Argos defeated Shorter, 76-61, on Saturday as party of the Play 4 Kay and National Girls and Women In Sports Day celebrations on campus. Rachel McCree scored a career-high 29 points and was 10-of-26 from the floor. Danielle Norquest and Fathe Franklin each added 17 points for the Blue & Green, while both of them notched a double-double as well.

SCOUTING DELTA STATE
* Delta State comes into the game with an 16-6 record and 9-6 in conference play, putting it in fifth place. The Lady Statesmen have gone 5-5 since their win over UWF in early January.
* The Lady Statesmen lead the GSC in offensive rebounds per game (15.6/24th NCAA), rebounds per game (44.9/13th NCAA) and rebound margin (7.9/29th NCAA).
* Quantesha Patterson and Zyaire Ewing have been two of the best players in the GSC, averaging a combined 29.4 points and 24.0 rebounds per contest. Patterson leads the GSC with 13.2 rebounds per game and 5.8 offensive rpg. She has eight double-doubles and averages 16.2 ppg. Ewing is second on the team with 13.2 ppg and 10.8 rpg.
* Nia Johnson is second on the team in scoring, with 14.1 ppg.

UWF-DELTA STATE SERIES HISTORY
* Delta State leads the all-time series 14-13 in women's basketball. DSU won the earlier matchup this season, 62-44, in Pensacola on Jan. 9.
* Prior to last season's UWF loss in Miss., the Argos had won the last seven games, marking the longest winning streak by any team against the storied Lady Statesmen program.

SCOUTING MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE
* The Lady Choctaws are 9-12 overall and 6-9 in GSC play heading into Thursday's game at Valdosta State.
* Four players average in double figures, led by Zariah Matthews (14.7 ppg) and Shanell Kitchens (12.3 ppg). The two guards have combined to make 58 of the team's 101 3-pointers this season.

UWF-MC SERIES HISTORY
* UWF is 9-2 all-time against MC, which includes a 3-2 mark in Clinton. UWF has won the last three games overall and three of the last four at Wood Coliseum.
* The Argonauts defeated the Lady Choctaws, 63-59 in Pensacola last month, shooting a season-high 46 percent in the game. Charlotte Ellmore had a career-high 21 points.
