UWF Hosts Valdosta State on Senior Night Thursday

Senior Faithe Franklin will be honored on Thursday

ABOUT UWF
* UWF concludes the 2019-20 season on Thursday night when the Argos play host to Valdosta State at the UWF Field House at 5:30 p.m.
* UWF is ranked 13th in the conference in scoring averaging 56.5 points per game on 35 percent shooting overall. They are also ranked 6th in scoring defense allowing 64.0 points per game.
* The Argos are 4th in the GSC in rebounding averaging 42.6 rebounds a game The team averages 4.6 made 3-pointers per game and are at a 65 percent clip from the free-throw line.
Danielle Norquest leads the Argos at 14.7 points per game and 12.7 rebounds per game. Norquest is third in the country with 21 double-doubles. She has scored in double figures in 23 out of 27 games in 2019-20.
*Charlotte Ellmore is third on the team in scoring (9.6 ppg) and first in assists (3.9 apg), and is third in the GSC with 36.4 minutes per game.
* Sophomore Rachel McCree has been one of the most improved players on the team as the season has progressed. She is second on the team with 9.7 points per game and is the team's leading 3-point shooter with 54 triples made, including ten games with at least three makes.

FRANKLIN TO PLAY FINAL GAME AT UWF
* Senior guard Faithe Franklin will play her final game as an Argonauts on Thursday. The Pensacola native is a four-year letterwinner and has appeared in 70 games.
* Franklin has career totals of 207 points, 218 rebounds and 118 assists and has been on teams with a career win-loss record of 77-45. This season has been her most productive, as she has turned in 177 points, 172 rebounds and 93 assists while starting 25 of 27 games at point guard.
* During her time on campus, the women's basketball program has captured the 2017 Gulf South Conference regular-season title, appeared in two NCAA Tournaments and advanced to the 2017 Elite Eight.

NORQUEST GOING FOR DOUBLE-DOUBLE RECORD 
* Junior Danielle Norquest enters the games with a GSC-leading 21 double-doubles this season. That figure is third in the country and tied for the single-season record at UWF.
* Last season, All-American Toni Brewer set the mark with 21 double-doubles in 30 games.

NORQUEST NAMED TO CoSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM
* Junior Danielle Norquest was named to the Academic All-District 5 Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America last week.
* Norquest currently averages 14.3 points and 12.5 rebounds while ranking third in the country with 20 double-doubles. She also has a 3.7 grade point average while majoring in Marketing. The junior from Diamond, Ohio has also been a two-time Gulf South Conference Academic Honor Roll recipient.
* She is one of six student-athletes chosen in the district, which includes nominees from all three conferences in the region – the Gulf South, Southern Intercollegiate and Sunshine State.

ABOUT VALDOSTA STATE
* VSU comes into the game at 17-9 overall and 9-9 in GSC play. VSU currently is tied for seventh with West Georgia.
* As a team, VSU is shooting .425 from the field and lead the league in free throws made and are second in free throws attempted. VSU averages 72.8 points per game and allows 67.3. The Lady Blazers are third in the league in 3-point field goal percentage at a .340 clip.  
* Kayla Bonilla leads the team averaging 17.8 points per game for fourth in the league and 58th nationally.  She is shooting 42 percent from the field and 80 percent from the FT line for fifth in the league. She is averaging 5.2 rebounds per game and has 87 assists and 49 steals on the year. Senior Cheray Saunders is second in scoring at 15.3 points per game and is the only Lady Blazer to play and start all 26 games. Saunders leads the team in rebounding at 6.0 per game with 55 assists and a team-high 53 steals.

UWF-VSU SERIES HISTORY
* VSU leads the all-time series with UWF 19-13 and has won four of the last seven. The Argos have an 8-6 edge at the UWF Field House with a 6-game winning streak
* The teams have alternated wins and losses in the last eight games. The Lady Blazers escaped with a 60-59 win in Valdosta last month. The Argos trailed by 12 in the game and by 11 early n the fourth quarter before mounting their comeback. Danielle Norquest had a shot roll off the rim as time expired. UWF outrebounded VSU 53-36 in the contest.
