GAME 1 | GAME 2
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida baseball team now stands at 8-6 overall and 6-2 in the Gulf South Conference after they were able to win both games of the doubleheader against conference foe Delta State on Saturday afternoon. UWF will look to sweep the series with a victory on Sunday, with first pitch being scheduled for 1 pm.

West Florida pitching was dominant in both games as the pitching staff only allowed two runs in sixteen innings.
GAME 1: UWF 7, Delta State 1
Daniel Floyd pitched a complete game allowing only one earned run as he struck out seven on four hits. Floyd allowed no hits for the first five innings of the game.
UWF opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning when Brooks Mitchell singled scoring Miller Hancock. The Argos were able to add another run in the inning as Mitchell was able to stay in a rundown long enough to allow Dylan Menhennett to score giving the Argos a 2-0 lead after four.
UWF extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth after Trevor Payne hit a sacrifice fly to score Justin Dunnam.
Floyd got into trouble in the top of the sixth as Delta State had two runners on second and third but Floyd was able to get out of trouble with no damage done. Â
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Matthew Estrada hit an RBI single to left field scoring Mitchell extending the UWF lead to 4-0. Adam Imwalle added another run as he was able to hit a sacrifice fly scoring Dunnam. Hancock added two more runs after he hit a single to center field to score Estrada and Payne making the Argo lead 7-0.
The Statesmen were able to get on board in the top of the ninth as CJ Estave hit an RBI groundout to score their only run of the game. Floyd was able to finish off Delta State as Jared Cramer flew out to center field securing an Argos victory.
Floyd improved his record to 3-0 and Delta State's Hunter Riggins took the lost as his record now stands at 2-2.

GAME 2: UWF 5, Delta State 1
UWF got off to a hot start as they were able to load the bases with no outs in the bottom of the first. Cullan O'Shea then came up and hit a single scoring Estrada and Payne giving the Argos a two-run lead. UWF scored two more as Menhennett scored on a wild pitch and Hancock hit an RBI single scoring O'Shea.
Jared Middleton had his perfect game broken with 2 outs in the bottom of the fourth when Estave hit a home run to left field making the score 4-1.
The Argos were able to respond quickly in the bottom of the fourth as Estrada hit an RBI single to right field scoring Dunnam extending the UWF lead to 5-1.
Josh Pahlad came in relief in the top of the sixth for Middleton and was able to retire the side in order. He was able to do the same in the seventh inning finishing off the Statesmen and giving UWF the win.
Middleton was able to grab his first victory on the season and Delta State's Cooper Brune picked up the loss as his record is now 2-1.
