UWF Opens Homestand Thursday Night

ABOUT UWF
* UWF lost its last road game on Saturday night, 56-51, to West Alabama. The Argonauts enter tonight's game at 6-16 overall and 2-12 in Gulf South Conference play.
* UWF is scoring 55.2 points per game on 34 percent shooting overall. The team averages just 4.6 made 3-pointers per game and are at a 65 percent clip from the free-throw line.
* Danielle Norquest averages 14.5 points and 12.2 rebounds per game while leading the country with 16 double-doubles. She has scored in double figures in 18 out of 22 games in 2019-20.
* Rebounding has continued to be a strength in 2019-20, with the Argonauts pulling down 42.1 rebounds per game. That ranks them fifth in the GSC, just behind Union at 43.3 rpg.
* Rachel McCree has improved tremendously as the season has continued. Scoring 19 points in the Argos 58-53 win on Thursday over Auburn-Montgomery. She is the team's leading 3-point shooter with 41 triples made, including eight games with at least three makes.
*Charlotte Ellmore has been a strong addition to the program this season since transferring from UTSA. The sophomore is second on the team in scoring averaging 9.8 points per game and lead the team in assists (3.8 apg). Her 36.4 minutes per game are third in the GSC.
* UWF is 3-6 at home and 37-9 in the last four seasons.

ABOUT WEST GEORGIA
* West Georgia enters the game with a 13-7 overall record. The Wolves are 6-6 in the GSC and 2-3 in their last five ball games. With their last game being a 75-63 loss to Christian Brothers. 
* The Wolves average are second in the GSC in scoring averaging 78.2 points as a team but were held to 63 and 50 in their last two games - losses to Christian Brothers and Union.
* Sophomore Taylor Brown leads UWG in scoring (13.0 ppg). Ashley Lee paces them in rebounding (8.4 rpg) and is second on the team in assists (36).

UWF-WEST GEORGIA SERIES HISTORY
* UWF is 16-16 all-time against UWG and is 8-7 at home against the Wolves.

SATURDAY IS PLAY 4 KAY GAME
* Saturday is the annual Play 4 Kay game, with donations going to fund cancer research and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
* Coach Yow was a longtime coach at NC State and founding member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association before passing away in 2009 after a 22-year, on-again, off-again battle with the cancer disease.

UWF TO HOST FREE YOUTH CLINIC FOR NATIONAL GIRLS & WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY
* The UWF Athletic Department will host a free youth clinic for girls 8th grade and under on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Noon in the HLS Recreation Center on the UWF campus. This free youth clinic is being conducted in collaboration with National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
* Participants will start the day with a warm-up & stretch before rotating between stations of volleyball, tennis, golf, cross country and soccer.
* All participants and their families will also receive free admission to the doubleheader against Shorter beginning at 2 pm that afternoon.
