UWF Falls To Montevallo, 82-62

The Argonauts made a season-high 10 3-pointers

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Danielle Norquest recorded her first double-double of the season, finishing with 14 points and 12 rebounds in UWF's 82-62 loss to Montevallo at the UWF Field House on Saturday.

UWF (1-3, 1-3 Gulf South) played hard throughout the contest, shooting 34 percent overall and made a season-high 10 3-pointers from seven different players.

In addition to Norquest's double figure effort – the 22nd of her career, Gabby Brown had 11 points and Charlotte Ellmore had 10 for the Argonauts, including three 3-pointers.

"Coming into today's game we challenged our players and they came into the game with a more intense and focused mindset," UWF head coach Stephanie Lawrence Yelton said. "I was impressed with how tough we played even when the chips were down. I was proud of our effort."

The opening quarter went back-and-forth before the Falcons closed the period on a 8-2 run for a 21-14 lead. UM used a strong second quarter for the second-consecutive night to pull away, shooting 9-for-16 in building a 43-28 halftime advantage. UWF closed to within 10 points late in the third quarter before UM pushed the margin back into the teens throughout the fourth quarter.

UM (3-2, 3-2) shot 49 percent and got a game-high 20 points, six assists and three steals from point guard Marisa Snodgrass. She also was 4-of-7 from outside. The Falcons outscored the Argos 40-22 in the paint.

UWF will return to action for its third game in five days on Tuesday evening when it travels to Auburn Montgomery (0-4, 0-4). Tip-off at the AUM Gymnasium is set for 6 p.m.
