West Florida has Big Second Half Performance to Take the Win over UWA

The Argos scored three goals in the second half

Birmingham, Ala.- The Argos traveled to Birmingham, Ala. this afternoon to play GSC opponent West Alabama at Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex.
 
The Tigers started off with two corner kicks and a penalty kick to try to take an early lead in the first half. The Tigers forward Aymane El Ammari took the pentalty kick, but UWF goalkeeper, Jihad Gomes saved it to keep the score tied at zero.
 
In the first half, the Argos had zero shots while the Tigers had nine shots with one goal. The Tigers scored late in the 39th minute to take the lead 1-0. The goal was given to midfielder Maxime Correia, who kicked the ball into the right-hand corner of the net past the Argos goalkeeper.
 
Jihad Gomes had four saves to help the Argos in the first half. West Florida had a few good touches from Kainan Dos Santos, Keegan Lynch, and Sy Fontenot, but couldn't convert. Heading into the half, the Tigers still had the lead.
 
The Argos came out of the half with new energy and momentum. In the 55th minute, there was a hand ball in the box by the Tigers giving the Argos a penalty kick. Kainan Dos Santos took the kick and nailed it right into the net. This tied the score up at one.
 
In the 63rd minute, the Tigers came back and took the lead again with a goal by forward, Aymane El Ammari.
 
In the 80th minute, Kainan Dos Santos makes a shot outside the box to tie the game back up to two. Two minutes later, Elijah Howe scores a goal to give the Argos their first lead of the game. The assist was given to Caue Novaes.
 
Jack Patching scores another goal for the Argos in the 88th minute off a counterattack. This gave the Argos the lead 4-2.
 
West Florida had a big second half performance to give them the win over West Alabama. This improves their record to 7-2-2 on the season.
 
Up Next: The Argos will stay in Birmingham to play Alabama Huntsville on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 3 PM.
