MONTGOMERY, Ala- The University of West Florida Women's Soccer team continued their winning streak with a 3-1 win over Auburn Montgomery. The Argos were led in scoring by
Lauren Ragazzone who scored her first collegiate goal of her career in the first half of the game. UWF is now 6-1-1 on the season and 2-1-1 in Gulf South Conference play.
Blair Cowan put the Argos on the board in the 28th minute after scoring an unassisted goal. Cowan is now up to six goals on the season. The Argos maintained possession majority of the first half , taking 10 shots and four corner kicks. AUM had zero shots and zero corner kicks in the first half of the game.
Freshman,
Lauren Ragazzone scored her first collegiate goal of her career in 41st minute of the game, with from assist from
Blair Cowan. UWF was 2-0 going into the second half of the game.
The second half was much of the same with UWF maintaining possession of the ball. Ragazzone picked up her second goal of the night in the 53rd minute of play. Ragazzone's two goals are a career high for the freshman.
In the 77th minute Marjin Kissen from Auburn Montgomery scored the Warhawks first goal of the game with an assist from Anila Mantello.
Both the Argos's and Warhawks picked up the momentum in the second half. AUM outshot the Argos 8-5 in the second half of the game. UWF had three corner kicks in the second half and AUM had two.
Defensively the Argo's were once again led by
Hannah Wooten, the only Argo to play the entire 90 minutes. Wooten,
Bailey Erwig and Kiliegh Whited limited the Warhawks ability to take shots throughout the game.
Overall the Argos outshot the Warhawks 15-8. With seven corner kicks, compared to AUM's two.
The Argo's will be back in action Sunday, Oct.10 against Montevallo. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Varsity field.
