West Florida Secures Straight Set Victory Over Montevallo

Argonauts are now just two wins away from tying their longest win streak in program history

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – After a three-day break since their last match on Tuesday, the University of West Florida Volleyball team wasted no time showing their dominance on Saturday beating Gulf South Conference opponent Montevallo in straight sets.

Now 19-1 (7-0) on the season, the Argonauts have won their past 14 matches which is just two shy of tying the longest win streak in program history. Today's match also marked sweep No. 16 on the season which shows the level of play West Florida has played at this season.

Against the Falcons, the Argonauts got off to a fast start in the first set and never looked back throughout the entire match.

Madi Cooler was one of the offensive leaders for West Florida today as she finished with ten kills in the match on a .364 hitting percentage. Cooler also tied with Veresia Yon for the most points on the team with each player finishing with 13 points in the match.

As a team, the Argonauts finished with 46 kills in the match on 44 assists and a .330 hitting percentage. Seven players picked up six on more kills on the afternoon while setter Taylor Vaneekeren accounted for 34 of West Florida's assists.

Defensively, West Florida continued what they have been so good at this season finishing the match with seven blocks as a team. Freshman, Jenna Zydlo, led the charge today finishing with four blocks in the match just ahead of Yon and Vaneekeren who each had three blocks themselves.

It will be another tough test for the Argonauts on Tuesday when they take on Alabama Huntsville from the UWF Field House. After taking down the Chargers this past Tuesday in four sets, West Florida will look to do the same this Tuesday when they meet in Pensacola.

First Serve for next Tuesday's matchup is set for 6 pm so be sure to come out and cheer on your Argos as they take on this very talented Alabama Huntsville team.
