TUSKEGEE, Ala- The University of West Florida Men's Basketball team improved to a 3-0 start on the season after defeating Tuskegee University 59-56.

During the the first half of the game West Florida was 6-24 from the field shooting just 25 percent. The Argos did however make 90 percent of their free throws during the first half. At halftime Tuskegee had a 31-23 lead. 

However during the second half the team worked their way back into the game. Sofield led the team in scoring with 23 points . The team was able to find ways to get Sofield the ball and take good shots during the second half. The Argos were also able to come up with crucial stops in the second half to take the lead. 

Wendell Matthews had 15 points and 12 rebounds for his first double double of the season. Conor Flanagan also got in on the scoring with seven points of his own, followed by guard LaTrell Tate who had six points, five rebounds and one assist. Matthews and Kendall Bynum each had three assists.

With seconds left in game Conor Flanagan missed a free throw to extend the lead and the Golden Tigers were able to go down the court but missed the shot that would have tied the game.

Tuskegee was led in scoring by Devin Booker who finished the game with 23 points. In the second half the Golden Tigers were 10-33 from the field and finished the game with a field goals percentage of 37.9.

Overall UWF outrebounded Tuskegee 39-35, shooting 33.3 percent from the field.

The University of West Florida Men's Basketball team will have their home opener against Albany State on Sunday, Nov. 21. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. Sunday's game is Jersey and Greek night, fans are encouraged to wear jerseys to the game.
