Box Score Mobile, Ala.- The UWF Men's Soccer team finishes their last regular season game with a win over GSC opponent Spring Hill. This enables the Argos to host their first playoff game on Sunday.
This week, West Florida moved up to No. 4 in the GSC and No. 6 in the NCAA Regional Ranking.
Both teams were scoreless in the first half. The Argos had fours shots to the Badgers three shots. Goalkeeper
Jihad Gomes had three saves in the first half and five saves total.
The backline of the Argo defense was solid with help from
Lucas Barankiewicz,
Austin Marshick, Eduardo Quieroz, and
Furkan Artar. The Badgers couldn't start a counterattack because of the Argo defense was like a brick wall.
The Badgers and the Argos went back and forth on offensive possessions.
The Argos had a good look at the net with a corner kick by
Ed Chappe to
Keegan Ancelin in the fourth minute of play. Ancelin's header to the goal missed high. Both teams were scoreless heading into halftime.
In the second half, the Argos scored in the 68
th minute with a goal in the box by
Keegan Ancelin. This gave the Argos the 1-0 lead. Ancelin led the Argos with two shots in the afternoon.
The West Florida defense was able to keep the Badgers out of the net for the rest of the second half to win the game 1-0. Ancelin's goal was the only goal scored in the game.
The Argonauts improve their record 10-3-2 and 7-3-1 in the GSC heading into playoffs.
