PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF women's basketball team returns home to take on Columbus State on Saturday at Noon at the UWF Field House.
ABOUT THE ARGOS
* UWF improved to 5-1 on the season following a 54-44 road win over West Georgia in the conference opener on Wednesday. The victory extended UWF's win streak to five overall and four-consecutive over the Wolves.

* Jarnot averages a double-double with 15.0 points per game and 12.0 rebounds per game (1st in GSC, 14th in NCAA). The North Dakota transfer has registered a double-double in the last five games, including a 12-point, 20-rebound effort last Sunday. She is 2nd in the country with 5 double-doubles. She has made 9-of-10 FT in the last two games.
* Piller has been the GSC Freshman of the Week twice and the Player of the Week once. She averages 15.7 ppg and 9.0 rpg with three double-doubles. She is 2nd in the GSC and 17th in the NCAA with a 62.7 FG pct.
* Brown established career-highs for points (27) and 3-pointers made (6) in the win over William Carey last Sunday. She has scored eight, 27 and eight in the last three games, her three highest outputs this season.
* Griffon has 21 assists through six games, including 11 in the past two contests.
* Ellmore leads the team with 23 assists and is 23rd nationally and 2nd in the GSC with a 2.56 assist-to-turnover ratio.
* UWF is averaging 69.3 ppg as a team on 40.4 pct. shooting. They are allowing 57.2 ppg on 35.7 pct. shooting.
* UWF has made 25-of-30 (83.3 pct) FT in the last two games.
* The Argos have assisted on 72 pct. of its baskets in the last two games while raising its season average from 54.9 to 60 pct.

REBOUNDING A STRENGTH FOR UWF ONCE AGAIN
* Historically, UWF has been a dominant rebounding team at both ends of the floor and 2021-22 appears to be no different. UWF ranks second in the GSC at 44.6 rpg and is third in rebound defense, allowing just 31.6 rpg.

ABOUT COLUMBUS STATE
* Columbus State is 5-2 but comes to Pensacola on a 2-game losing skid. The Cougars opened the season with an exhibition win over Division I Charleston Southern before five victories against Newberry, Mars Hill, Albany State, Alabama Huntsville and Montevallo. Their losses came at No. 23 Valdosta State and Eckerd at the Blazer Thanksgiving Classic last weekend.
* The Cougars go about eight players deep with all of them averaging at least 5.0 points per game. Leading the way is senior guard Imani Arnold with 13.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. She has two games of 20 points or more and five games in double figures. She has gotten to the FT line 57 times out of the team's 173 total attempts (32.9 pct.), making 52.6 pct. Sophomore G Olanna Rawls is second in scoring with 11.9 ppg and has taken the most 3-pointers, connecting on 9-for-24 for a 26.5 pct.
* CSU shoots 40 pct. and averages 71.0 ppg. while allowing 56.7 ppg on 39.9 pct. shooting. They have a minus 0.5 rebound margin, outrebounding their opponents three times, being outrebounded three times and having even boards once.
* Matt Houser is in his third season leading the team and brings a 27-16 record into the game.
UWF-CSU SERIES HISTORY
* The all-time series is tied at 3-3, 2-2 in Pensacola and 1-1 in Columbus.
* CSU claimed the last meeting, a 73-55 win two years ago to the day, outscoring UWF 24-6 in the third quarter. The Argos won the previous year's game, 79-73, erasing an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter. The Lady Cougars won the matchup in 2017, 70-64, in Columbus.
YELTON IN TENTH SEASON AT UWF
* Stephanie Lawrence Yelton is in her tenth season at UWF and has a 154-107 record with the Argos … She is 211-191 in her 15th season as a head coach, which includes five seasons at Charleston Southern … The Morrow, Ga. native (suburb south of Atlanta) is a UNC grad from 1996 and was a 4-year letterwinner for the Tar Heels, where she won two ACC Championships and the 1994 NCAA National Championship – she threw the inbounds pass on Charlotte Smith's game-winning buzzer beater in the title game.
* Yelton was named the GSC Coach of the Year in 2013-14 and 2018-19.
UWF PICKED 8TH IN GSC COACHES POLL
* UWF was picked to finish eighth in the GSC Preseason Coaches Poll, while the Wolves were picked ninth … Defending champion Union earned 10 of 12 first place votes and was picked first for the third-consecutive year. Lee received on first place vote, followed by Valdosta State with the 13th top vote. Montevallo took fourth, while Delta State rounded out the top five with Alabama Huntsville, West Alabama and West Florida sixth through eighth. West Georgia was ninth, while Christian Brothers, Mississippi College, Auburn Montgomery and Shorter also in the list.
