WACO, Texas – UWF standout defensive back
D'Anthony Bell has been named First Team All-America by the American Football Coaches Association.
In 2021, the Covington, Georgia native finished with 61 tackles, including a team-high 43 unassisted from his safety spot, along with five pass break-ups, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and a quarterback hurry.
His play has been noticed by professional scouts and earned him an invitation to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in Pasadena, California on January 29, 2022.
Bell becomes the first-ever First Team All-America selection in program history and the fifth Argonaut to earn a spot on a national squad. He joins
Samuel Antoine,
Marvin Conley,
Ishmel Morrow and
John Williamson as honorees who won a combined 10 Second Team and Honorable Mention awards.
Bell started all 26 games at UWF since transferring from Butler Community College in 2019. As a junior in 2019, he totaled 71 tackles and again led the team in solos with 41, while adding two interceptions, nine break-ups and four fumble recoveries.
