PENSACOLA, Fla. – UWF senior
Danielle Norquest turned in just the second 30-point, 20-rebound game in Division 2 this season as she powered UWF past West Georgia, 75-69, at the UWF Field House on Saturday.
UWF (6-6, 6-6 Gulf South), which won for the fourth time in the last six outings, shot 45 percent from the floor and swept the two weekend contests with the Wolves.
Norquest had a balanced 17 points and 10 rebounds in each half but did her offensive damage in different ways. She came out white hot from behind the 3-point line in the first half, making 4-of-6 to help kickstart the UWF offense. The Argos made seven triples in the first half. In the second 20 minutes, Norquest made her only three she attempted and was 6-of-8 from inside the arc, with all six baskets in the paint.
Her career-high 34 points and career-tying 20 rebounds rank among this year's national single-game leaders in each category. The scoring mark is tied for the 12th-highest in the D2 ranks, with the rebound mark tied for tenth in the division. In the GSC, only Christian Brothers' Brynne Lytle's nation-high 45 are more than the Argo forward.
On Saturday, UWF made six 3-pointers in the opening quarter to race out to a 25-10 lead, matching its season-high for points set on Friday.
But like the day prior, the Wolves fought back and rimmed the margin to 35-32 going into the locker room.
The back-and-forth play of the series continued in the third, with two lead changes and two ties, as neither team led by more than six.
Junior
Peyton Lewis saved her best for last, scoring seven of her 15 points in the fourth quarter, making all four field goals and three free throws, while Norquest accounted for eight points and eight boards in the final stanza as well.

Charlotte Ellmore had nine points, six assists with zero turnovers.
UWG (5-9, 5-9) shot 37 percent and was led by Mariah Holder's 19 points off the bench. Siera Carter finished with 15 and Zaria Bankston had 14.
UWF will hit the road for three games next week, beginning Tuesday night at AUM (0-6, 0-6). The Warhawks have had their last three contests postponed and have not played since Jan. 26. Tip-off at the AUM Gymnasium will be at 6 p.m.
