Argonauts Pick Up Conference Win by Sweeping Mississippi College

Sixth opponent West Florida has swept this season

PENSACOLA, Fla. – On another picture-perfect day from the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis the West Florida Men's Tennis team picked up another conference victory taking down Mississippi College 7-0 on the day. This win moves the No. 8 ranked Argonauts to 13-4 on the season including a 7-1 record in Gulf South Conference play.

This win today moves West Florida to 9-0 all-time against the Choctaws and gives them great momentum heading into their final match of the season next Friday against Montevallo.

In today's match West Florida continued their success in doubles winning from two out of the three positions to win the lone point for the twelfth match in a row.

Adam Svensson and Lluis Miralles Miro started things off for the Argonauts in doubles winning 6-0 from the No. 2 position to improve to 2-0 on the season as a pair. Nicolas Lecoutre and William Shkrob won their eleventh doubles match in a row today securing the lone point with a 6-1 victory from the No. 3 position.

Singles play saw West Florida continue to roll as they won in straight sets from all six positions in the lineup to secure the sweep on the day.

From the top of the lineup Juan Cabrera won from the No. 1 position beating Matias Ballatore 6-1, 6-1 in his match. Salvador Bandeira played from the No. 2 position today and won 6-2, 7-5 for his fourth win of the season. Rounding out the top of the lineup, Juan Motta picked up a 6-1, 7-5 win from the No. 3 position for his sixth win this season.

From the bottom of the lineup, Nery came out with a 6-4, 6-3 victory from the No. 4 position to keep the Argonauts rolling. Miro improved to 7-0 in singles this season wining 6-4, 6-2 from the No. 5 position. From the No. 6 position Svensson secured the Argonauts last point winning 6-2, 6-1 in his match.

West Florida will now move to next Friday when Montevallo comes to town to make up the Mar. 25 match that was rescheduled due to rain. First serve will be at 10 AM from the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex as the Argonauts look to wrap up their regular season on a high note.
